The Westin Reserva Conchal, an All-Inclusive Golf Resort & Spa

This is our third time in Costa Rica and we absolutely love playa Conchal. We fell in love with this resort and with costa Rica in general. After many trips in many countries and all sorts of all inclusive we can definitely say Westin is a magical place. Staff so friendly and kind you make friends everywhere. Such variety of good food that you cannot be bored. We read people complain about the food and honestly unless Ramsey himself cooks for you and feeds with a spoon you are just wanting to feel special writing bs. You and yours will enjoy going back n forth from pool to beach sippin' your favourite cocktails and if you are a golfer you truly are in paradise. The spa is not to be missed if you are into sauna cold plunge steam room and jacuzzi. Now for the fun part: the amazing tours and activities. We used CONCHALFUN a small company that provides a wide range of tours to chose from. We did The megafun combo with Andrei and it was a hit: horses up the mountain, amazing zip line, water slide thru the jungle with wedgie included, then the hot springs and mud bath. Andrei was so fun to be with and he brought his dog Shakira who made the whole trip so much more fun. We also went fishing and Luis the "rooster whisperer" did his job well and put us on many fish. We ate sashimi on the oat and brought back some filets for the restaurant to cook. You sign a waiver at the Mitra and are offered a variety of recipes. We also did the Jet ski tour and it was a hit for the whole family. Do not hesitate to book this resort and enhance the whole trip with some Conchalfun tours you will not be disappointed.

Had a great trip at the Westin Resort and Spa Conchal. Food was great at the specialty restaurants. Pool was excellent. Wait staff is attentive. Did an excursion to La Leona Waterfall that Erik G in the blue Google shirt helped to arrange. Driver and guide was great, we had a blast and I would definitely recommend having him assist you! Hope to return soon!

Had a great stay at the Westin Reserva Conchal! The pool was fantastic, food excellent, and grounds immaculately kept. The beach was beautiful, though a bit on the smaller side. Staff were polite, attentive, and always friendly. A minor complaint is that the room thermostat wouldn't go lower than 20*C, but the rooms have a ceiling fan that kept us quite cool anyway. There are several free activities provided, such as tennis, pickleball, table games, ping pong, billiards, volleyball, and more. We used Erik G (guy in the blue Google shirt) near the beach for airport transportation and a full day excursion to the rainforest, waterfalls, and mud baths. Highly recommend reaching out to him, he's quick to respond and extremely helpful! Just Google him! Would love to go back someday!

We booked this trip with two other couples and paid the higher price to stay at the Westin Club (and use the adult-only pool). Communications were bad from the start and got worse once we arrived. I tried to call the resort directly multiple times and got hung up on each time. So once I received a welcome email from the manager, I tried that method. Emails and requests went unanswered. I got a welcome email from another manager and tried that route. He offered to help, so I sent my requests, then nothing (2 days after our arrival I heard back - he said he had been off). I was trying to organize tee times so we could confirm them and then plan other excursions, so I then emailed the golf club directly. Nothing. No reply. So we were left to book things once we arrived. The Westin Club has a lobby with a dedicated concierge. We asked them if they could book tee times. They said yes and we requested Tuesday and Thursday. They confirmed and told us our tee times were 8:20am for those days. We arrived for golf on Tuesday morning and were told we didn't have a tee time, and that we were "no-shows" for Monday. The pro shop wasn't interested in helping us at all. They also had no explanation for why they didn't reply to my email. But one of the starters found out what happened and he worked us in (starting on the back 9). We never saw another 4-some, so they clearly weren't too busy. But the absolute worst is getting dinner reservations. Again, we tried the Westin Club concierge. We requested dinners for Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings. They sent a confirmation for dinners Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. So we had to tell them that was wrong (we had booked an excursion for Wednesday through Westin). They said they fixed it, multiple times, but each time we went to our dinners, we were told we didn't have reservations. After the first night, we complained and they said they fixed everything. We re-confirmed Thursday's reservation with the manager whilst at the pool. We were assured it was all corrected. We confirmed again before walking to dinner. And again, no reservation (if you don't have a reservation, you don't get to eat there that night, period). So again we scrambled for alternative plans (getting a late reservation for Italian). On Friday we decided to have a casual lunch on the pool deck. I ordered a gluten free pizza (I have an allergy). I was not in a hurry. When I was told my pizza was ready, I took it back to the pool. The crust was completely raw dough (I couldn't even get it out of the box). So I decided to have one of the burgers (wtihout the bun) from the grill. It was completely raw in the middle (not rare, it was cold and raw). Since I had already gotten food poisoning earlier that week, those two items confirmed I wasn't having lunch. Each time we had an issue, we went back to try and get it fixed. We only heard excuses and more apologies for each problem. I've stayed at Marriott so much that I have lifetime Gold Elite status. It meant nothing. It's such a shame that the service and communication was so horrible. Because the resort and the other staff there were lovely. Nelson (Tower1 concierge) was excellent. The pool bartenders (especially Bryan) were fun and engaging. We would love to go back, but considering it's almost $1000/night/couple it's not worth it. Oh, and if you stay in Tower 1 - make sure you're on the top floor. No one could explain what was happening above us, but it happened all day and all night!

We just returned from a wonderful trip at the Westin! The howler monkeys on the property were incredible and the property is large and beautiful. The rooms were very quiet and clean. Bryan also made our experience at the club pool top notch, he took the best care of us. You can also pay $30 round trip for the hotel to take you into Tamarindo. We booked our waterfall trip with Erik G in the blue shirt on the beach. He set up a seamless transfer which was private and the driver shared so much Costa Rican information with us.

Getting ready to check out of the Westin Adult Tower 2 . Had a great time with a wonderful support staff that are constantly looking to please ! Weather and grounds were perfect ! We stayed in the Adults Tower 2 , room was beautiful , woke up in the morning to a family of monkeys being vocal and monkeying around lol! If you don’t like walking ask for Tower 1 which is slightly closer to everything , but the resort does an excellent job in transporting you from place to place . Restaurants were good , 3 of them require reservations which can be done at 8am every morning otherwise no problem getting a table ! Gym was very good with about 6 treadmills, 8 spin bikes , various machines and free weights . There is one smith machine . Adult pool was great , you do need to gey chairs by 8 on the shady side and by 10 on the sunny side, plenty of umbrellas surround all the chairs. Pool staff was top notch and cant do enough for you! The concierge staff ( Bergen and Jeffrey )were great , always looking to do more for you! We ventured to the beach for a day and got massages with a woman named Lady ($20 for half and $40for hour) , also highly recommended. We signed up for a tour with Erik who wears a Yahoo shirt , zip lining and hiking , one of the best tours ever. Door to door were well escorted ! Signed up for a catamaran sunset snorkeling cruise at the hotel and again a great experience ! Five star resort ! Cannot wait to return .

We stayed at the Westin Reserva Conchal for 5 days and it was absolutely perfect. The resort is beautiful and everyone provided great service. We wanted to do some sightseeing and found Erik G at the beach who helped design a great full day excursion for us to see waterfalls, a volcano and a bunch of wildlife. Overall it was a great trip. It does take some travel time to do excursions so plan ahead!

My wife and I along with our 3 kids recently spent 5 nights at the Westin. We enjoyed our stay overall. It would be nice to not have 20 vendors hounding you the second you walk on to the beach, but that is likely beyond their control. The food was overall disappointing. The Market is the same for lunch everyday. By the pool you can get Chicken Strips or Pizza. If you walk over you can get a burger or hot dog. The specialty restaurants were not good at all. The poolside service is very sporadic, I think we probably saw a server 3 times on average per day. Usually we had to just go get drinks on our own. The rooms are very nice and clean. We were told with the family plan that there would be premium alcohol in our rooms, that never came. Some cheap wine and fruit was delivered the first day. That was it. Overall the resort is very nice and clean. But I expected more for the price.

We stayed 9 days in the family section of the resort. The food was amazing with our favorites being Manglar and Bamboo which both require reservations which are easy to make with the Marriott app. The wildlife was incredible with so many birds and animals I can’t even remember them all. The staff was helpful and friendly and they make everything easy. If you enjoy massages go to the beach in front of the pool and ask for Lady Blue. She has a blue tent and we all got massages every single day. She has very strong hands so make sure you tell her what pressure you are looking for. Avoid all the other ladies and just go to Lady Blue and you will not regret it. A top quality massage for $40 on the beach with the waves gently washing ashore in front of you was a huge added bonus we did not expect. Overall the Westin Reserva Conchal is a 5 star resort.

I'm not one to write reviews, but my experience with this hotel’s service has been extremely disappointing—and I haven’t even arrived yet. I am getting married at this hotel and hosting a destination wedding with nearly 90 guests. Unfortunately, both my guests and I have struggled to get any responses regarding reservation adjustments or assistance with adding items to their bookings. Nearly every guest has reached out to me asking why our main contact, Yazmin, is unresponsive. We often have to send multiple follow-up emails just to receive a single reply. On top of that, I am experiencing the same issue with my wedding planner, Milady. She is frequently out of the office and rarely responds without repeated follow-ups. Many times, I have to CC additional contacts just to get any response at all. Even when I do receive a reply, my questions are often not addressed. I am currently waiting—now over two weeks—for a response to an important wedding-related question. The lack of communication and follow-through has been incredibly stressful. I have not yet visited the property, but the customer service experience so far has been awful. I also contacted Marriott directly to address my concerns, but the representative did not resolve anything and simply transferred me back to my hotel contact, which led straight to voicemail. My wedding is in April, and given the experience so far, I am genuinely worried about how this event will turn out. I am bringing a significant amount of business to this hotel and chose it believing it would be one of the best options in Costa Rica. At this point, the level of service does not reflect that expectation at all. I will update the review as we go, but so far what should be an exciting and stress-free time (hence why we chose a destination wedding at an all inclusive "five star" resort) has been a communication-less money grab.
