La Badia Di Orvieto

Clean, Quiet, removed, liked the music they played, staff was helpful. WiFi worked. Fun to explore ground. Good views of Orvieto. Missed coffee in the room!

This was totally like a "real" Castle stay but in an Abbey. We had been to many of the Castles/Castle Hotels in other countries prior to getting to Italy. This one actually felt like you were staying in the Castle due to it's story and the age of the structure. They did a great job in restoration. There was a large wedding going on and it was really nice. We ate in the bar area as we did not have dinner reservations. The breakfast is good. The local town of Orvieto is beautiful, you need to spend at least half a day there. If I was planning a wedding in Italy, this venue would be top on my list! We will return again to stay someday. A great experience.

Great experience! You get to actually live "in" the castle! Unlike other castles that have you stay in the houses "next to the castle" Rooms are clean, staffs are polite and efficient. Breakfast is average but egg is fresh not powdered. Overall a great experience!

Our expectations were exceeded at this beautiful abbey: The staff is friendly and welcoming; The abbey rooms are charmingly decorated with antiques, and the ruins are breathtaking. This was the best night stay we have ever had. It was quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was top notch and Orvieto hilltop town nearby was charming. We wil return.

Tommasso gave us a warm welcome upon our arrival. He spoke beautiful English and was able to answer all of our questions. The hotel is a restored monastery. It is stately, and the grounds are beautiful. There is understandably no elevator (given its age), but the stairs were easily navigable. We arrived late and had a very good dinner. Be aware, if you’re hungry after a long day of traveling, the portions are smaller than the norm we encountered elsewhere in Italy. The room was clean and the shower good. The bed was very comfortable. One little glitch: our room was above the parking area in the front of the hotel and someone’s car alarm went off at around 3 AM! Not a big deal. It woke us up but we both went right back to sleep! Breakfast the next morning was standard buffet fare: good coffee, juices, fruit, yogurt, cereal, sweet rolls, etc. We drove to the parking lot at the foot of the escalators and took the escalators up into the town. It is possible to drive up, but we weren’t sure how easy it would be to find parking, and there is an extensive ZTL restricted driving Zone. Tommasso will tell you how to get there!

Reasonable hotel between Rome and Tuscany. Nice property, hotel was adequate but a little dated. Staff was EXCELLENT, helping us overcome travel problems we had. Food was good. Overall, a good value.

Loved this place. The staff was great and very accommodating. There was a wedding when we checked in so the restaurant was not open but they made sure we a meal from the bar. The hotel is beautiful, they have the best taxi drivers available and the restaurant and the waiters are top notch. Try the octopus if they have it!! We would definitely stay here again

AMAZING HOTEL!!! It cannot be any better! The location is fantastic, the views of Orvieto are breathtaking and the hotel itself is magical!
