Onomo Hotel Dakar

This used to be an airport hotel but the airport has now closed and the new airport is quite some distance away. As a consequence there is little to do in the area which is disappointing if you are staying there for any length of time. There is a typical African beach, strewn with plastic and rubbish, across a very busy road. Probably best to get a taxi. 10,000CFA and the driver will wait for you whilst you sit in one of the many bars. The rooms are quite small but comfortable, good shower and the rooms look out over a nice grassed area with banana trees. The staff are great but the menu is small, made worse by the fact that often items are unavailable. The only other downside was that the corridors smell quite badly. This could be temporary but the smell of the drains was quite unpleasant.

The hotel is situated quite far from the airport. It can take 45 - 60minutes to get to the hotel depending on traffic conditions.The hotel has front desk and restaurant staff who try to speak some English. This is convenient for travellers who speak no French at all to at least get their requests across. The rooms are very clean and food served in the restaurant is yummy. Breakfast is a buffet.

The hotel now is very far from the new airport, so there is not so much a point of comming in now. That was my first big surprise when I got back to dakar in december. Prices are still a bit to hight for the offer and the equipement is starting to get old.

Worst hotel ever booked in hotels.com Pros: Had availability on short notice. Probably for reasons below... Cons: Not very accessible. My room was not cleaned the first night The internet is extremely slow The restaurant did not have most of the menu Only had 1 positive interaction. Everyone else had an attitude and seemed annoyed if I asked simple questions. Have a “cab service” which they do not help you with. Can you help me get to this address please? There are cabs outside. Good luck! My French if pretty decent so I could deal with them, if yours is not... Good luck! Had a reservation with breakfast included and they still charged me for it.

Unsecure, filthy dirty and riddled with mosquitoes.

nice modern hotel closest to airport has free shuttle, great service, good breakfast buffet, good dining also for lunch or dinner, rooms are small but ok, kind of like an Ibis or Motel 6 type hotel. Bedding is comfortable and good AC. Humidity is an issue and some conditioning upgrades are due. Other than that good stay for a few days. Price reasonable and better with Hotels.com than in person

Very convenient, though hard to find, hotel near Dakar airport. Service was great and the rooms were clean and comfortable. We also got a good rate for the one night. I would definitely stay here again when passing through Dakar.

Very bad.

Spent the first 20 minutes killing about 25 mosquitos in the room. Other than that the room is clean and quiet. It's handy to the airport as often have to overnight to catch connecting flights. Food is quite good. Overall Dakar hotels are expensive. The Onomo Hotel for under $100 US is ok

Could not get computer connected at all. This makes communicating very difficult when travelling.
