Base Airlie Beach Resort - Hostel

The place is really a dump. The rooms are very unclean and falling apart, the steps can be unsafe also. The staff are rude and uninterested. Check in times can be a long too. All in all stay somewhere else thats clean and and safe.

OK location as it is away from the centre of Airlie Beach. Bathroom on first 2 nights in desperate need of updating. Smell of rotten eggs (room 1203)! Curtains didn't fully close and so let the light in at night. Ants on the kitchen surfaces. After returning from Whitsundays trip checked into another room (1201) slightly better!

I stayed in four beds room which is quite large, but the linens are not clean at all. I could even see the sand and hair on it.

I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the room was. There was a spa bath but sadly it didn't work and the cold water tap in the bathroom didn't switch off. Also i never told them so i am probably to blame for that not getting fixed. The staff were really friendly and accommodating.

The staff I dealt with were all very pleasant and friendly, especially the guy on the tour desk, he was absolutely awesome. He gave us good recommendations and our trip over the reef was amazing. Thank you heaps !!!! Whilst, I realise this is basically a backpackers resort and is very basic in accommodation, and has communal areas for cooking etc, having said that I found our room a little lacking. No kitchen cupboards, they were boarded over, no rack in walk in wardrobe to hang anything on (perhaps our towels - as no hand towel racks in bathroom) yes I realise they have probably been removed so that they can't be ripped off the walls. Whilst the bed was quite comfortable it was filthy under the sheeting, I was flabbergasted, there was dirt and grit (hopefully, or maybe dead bed bugs) everywhere, it needed a good vacuum. It was even clearly visible sitting on top of the mattress protector. Another thing that needs to be addressed is the sound that carries through the room connecting doors. The doors need to thicker with sound proofing around the edges. Whilst the people next door were not overly loud, it sounded like they were in the same room. All in all we wanted something cheap and reasonable, but not the nasty eg THE BED!!!!

Booked a 6 bed dorm, was one Doona short and didn't realize till we got back to the room after a night out. So one of us was freezing all night. No towels in the room you have to hire these from reception. Pipes all night from surrounding rooms rattle when being used like a train is going past, ran out of toilet paper, we checked in with basically none and being a 6 bed dorm you'd think you'd arrive with a full roll. Bathroom was dirty - hair and dirt on floor and in shower drain. Was definately a backpacking experience.

Everything is nice, spacious room, quiet environment and nice bathroom

Base Airlie Beach Resort is good value that offers clean and comfy accommodation for cheap. The pool, hammocks, and rooms are all nice. Was disappointed by the service and no towels provided. We had to call security for a late check in and because they didn't answer the phone for a while, we were afraid we would have to sleep somewhere else. The receptionist showed 45 min late in the morning and instead of checking out, we had to slide our keys under the door and run to meet our excursion. No organization among reception desk. Nice place to sleep for cheap, and it's located on the edge of the shopping area and not among the madness of the bars at night.

affordable, clean, great area. Only thing I thought I was in a woman's dorm.... It was mixed.

I had a good night's sleep in my spacious and quiet room. The garden surrounds created a pleasant atmosphere.
