SBH Taro Beach Hotel

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel despite reading a few negative reviews beforehand. The hotel was clean, the food was hot with a decent variety, and drinks like wine, sangria, and beer were self-serve. Cocktails were available, though not the best quality. The beach bar is a great spot to relax when the sun gets intense—it's a shame it's not open in the evenings. The pool was a decent size, around 1.5m deep, which may be a bit much for small children. Sunbeds were limited, and staff will remove towels if beds are left unoccupied too long, so don’t hog them if you’re not planning to use them! The beach itself was lovely, with soft sand and shallow water. Great for a relaxing day. We opted for the gold wristband (€5 pp/day), which gave us access to other nearby SBH hotels. We visited SBH Palace, which was lovely (though not all-inclusive), and worth a visit for a change of scenery. Rooms were cleaned daily. We had a sea-view room which was a great way to start the day. There was an issue with towel availability when we first arrived, but it was resolved eventually. Location-wise, it’s quiet with only a few nearby restaurants, but they’re reasonably priced. Overall, this is more of a 3-star hotel than 4-star, so set your expectations accordingly, and you’ll have a great stay.

I feel I have to post this after reading the last previous review to reassure those arriving in the coming weeks. The food here is excellent and I love my food. Great choice, very fresh. I just couldn’t fault it. Some areas are a little tired but overall we are having a great holiday and lots of lovely swims in the very clean pool. Would recommend and would return.

We loved our week long holiday. Pool area was great, large pool opening very early and stayed open late. Possibly needed more sunbeds but I was up at 8 every morning and always managed to get 4 beds in a row. Pool bar serves food most of the day, breakfast, dinner and tea. Self service on drinks including lager, pop, coffee and wine, with the bar serving other alcoholic drinks throughout the day. All the staff are great, had no issues with anyone on that side, the animation team are also fabulous, did some activities around the pool in the day and in the bar at night. We had a room which almost walked us out onto the beach which was amazing. Other than a few cockroachs the room was perfect, plenty big enough for the 4 of us, with the air-conditioning and fans keeping the room cool. We ate breakfast, dinner and tea in the restaurant, all 4 of us have different food tastes, and there was always plenty for us to keep us filled. The hotel is predominantly German, most of which are rude and unsociable, never smile or acknowledge you, no idea what's wrong with these people but didn't spoil our holiday at all. We would come back based on our experience.

La ubicación magnífica, la piscina, el personal. El bufet muy bueno. Variedad y de calidad.

La limpieza hay que pedir que te limpien la habitación y aún así deja mucho que desear. Los exteriores están muy dejados , papeleras sin vaciar... La bebida marcas de malísima calidad. La cerveza es lo único un poco bebible y el turismo preferente alemán. Se adaptan solo a ellos en cuanto a horarios comidas y animación. Hotel orientado para el público alemán.

Food. Shocking!!! Very repetitive and extremely poor. The majority of it tasted like it was cooked several days previous. No child friendly food. No burgers, no chicken nuggets, very bland food. Very German. We ended up eating out after the 2nd night there. We arrived on the Thursday night and Saturday we were all poorly. Through to Monday.. The first night we were all up till 4am because of the air con leaking in our room. Spoke to reception staff several times and I have a video of them telling me they don’t care. Should have gone home then! No one ever mentioned that all the entertainment was in German. They had a singer several nights and bingo and was all in German, 99% of the people there were German. Very rude too. We were told no reserving Sunbeds but found out very quickly that the Germans did this and nobody cared. There are no goggles or inflatables allowed in the pool depending on which life guard was on. Some said they didn’t care others were way over the top about it. But there are signs up saying no goggles or inflatables allowed. The snack bar was only open at certain times of the day and mainly served cake. Not what we wanted on an all inclusive with 2 children. There was only 1 bar open in the evening with one bar member leading to huge queues at the bar. No where near enough Sunbeds or chairs in the evening. It stated that the rooms were cleaned every other day and most times they just made the beds. There was no cleaning involved. All cups and glasses were just left outside our room. There were a lot of steep ramps from our room to the food area, reception and the pool area. Not good when we needed to keep going up to reception with issues we had. The beach was 2 mins walk from our room and it was lovely, we spent the majority of the time there. Nice little bars on the beach where we went for food and ice cream. Very pleasant staff on the beach. Really not ideal for British and the staff are in need of some training in customer service. Would I recommend this hotel? No i 100% wouldn’t and I will be seeking compensation.

La ubicación, el hotel está justo en la arena. Las vistas espectaculares a la playa con aguas turquesa. En el restaurante la comida estaba buena pero faltaba un poco más de variedad de frutas, nunca hubo Piña, ni mango y Plátanos los justitos. Siempre era melón, sandía, manzana, naranja y melocotón en almíbar. Decepcionante e increíble que no tuviesen aceite oliva virgen extra. Los cubiertos bastante mal lavados, siempre había alguno con restos. La manteleria lo mismo, sucia porque le dan la vuelta para aprovecharla y no hacer tanto gasto que me parece bien pero algunas veces tenía que ir directa a lavar.

No me gustó la limpieza , es inexistente. El chic@ de la limpieza viene, te hace las camas, cambia toallas y se va. Como mucho pasa la escoba porque no trabajan con aspiradora, terrible. El primer día nos dieron una habitación con un ventanal que no abría a la terraza. En el salón había dos sofas que hacían una cama individual cada uno por lo que ahí dormían las niñas. Estaban deterioradísimos, tenían pelos pegados de otros huéspedes y muy desgastados. El suelo estaba muy sucio, arena y motas de polvo además de no pasar una fregona allí desde hacía mucho tiempo y los calcetines se ponian negros con el primer paso. Lo mismo pasó en el baño que tenía algún pegote en el suelo. Así nos entregaron la habitación. Me quejé en recepción y vino un chico con una escoba y recogedor, le pedí una aspiradora para quitar los pelos del sofá y dijo que no tenían. Por la noche te metes en la cama y ves el techo lleno de humedades y suciedad, te ves allí tumbada en una habitación pequeña, con una ventana que no tiene vistas y da a una zona de paso por lo que no puedes abrir, sin una televisión y la decoracion tan cutre y obsoleta que te entra la depre porque no te imagiabas así tus vacaciones. Al día siguiente fui a pedir cambio de habitación, tardaron dos días y nos cambiaron a una en la zona más alta que ya tenía algún arreglillo, suelo con tarima, techos limpios, ventanal que abre y puedes estar en la terraza pero la limpieza igual de ineficaz, bueno la cartera me la limpió bien en una ocasión que no tuvo el detalle de dejar algo de calderilla para que no me diese cuenta pero ya no dije nada en recepción porque serían 7€ o así y ya pasé, de hecho al día siguiente ya no vino nadie ni a hacer las camas, cosa que tampoco comenté en recepción.

Good location for families, nice food. Friendly staff, always willing to help and assist.

We were burgelled by thiefs in the room during the night. After googled found that all the hotels on Island had a problem with thiefs. This incident ruined our experience. We get a feeling we are not safe there.

Brilliant 10 day holiday at Taro Beach. Quiet, peaceful. Plentiful food and drinks. Daily housekeeping. Responsive reception. Great restaurant staff. Entertainment team fantastic and engaging. Pool great, beach and beach bar great. Only slight annoyance was queuing at the bar in the evening and not enough sun beds - however staff were great at shifting off towels of people who had selfishly saved beds when they aren’t allowed too. All in all a fab holiday would happily come back! Thank you SBH Taro Beach
