Paradise Bay Resort

This place is where the customer is always ‘wrong.’ Although the location is beautiful, the rooms and service will make you feel like this is far from paradise.

Beautiful setting, spacious suites and extra-spacious balcony area. Everyone friendly and helpful.

There was no fan in the bedroom. This small addition would have made a huge difference to nighttime comfort.

The grounds of the complex was lovely. Staff friendly and helpful.

The room was very basic in furniture and utensils given it was self catering. The ac and fridge seemed to compete for who could be loudest and the table which was quite tall only had one high chair the others were shorter stools , which made eating slightly interesting. Our room had no view and sitting outside was not possible given the noise of the adjacent lodges ac. We cut short our stay and booked into a different hotel. I am still waiting for booking.com to respond to my messages re refund, which the hotel did say they would provide.

I liked the location and the large deck connected to our room. The views of the water were nice. They loaned us snorkel fins, chairs and even a cooler on our beach day which was great. I appreciated the banana bread and water station in the mornings. Staff was nice.

The walls are super thin and I heard everything. The TV in the room next to us was on the other side of the wall to our bedroom so it was hard to go to sleep while they were watching movies. The timer lights outside to all of our stairs goes off so fast that we were in the dark a lot. The driveway is very steep and most cars were skidding out on it because it was wet. We were thankful to have an all wheel drive. Not always easy to find parking.

The view of the bay and mountains from the rooms is fantastic. It is the only feature of this property that is exceptional.

For the $5,600 I paid for two units for three nights I expected more: The "resort" is located in a rather junkie neighborhood with litter, an abandoned vehicle, unkept adjacent properties, and garbage dumpsters. (1) They offered beach towels for guests to use but they never gave me the token (card) to get the towels. When I inquired at the desk they initially refused to give me the towels. I had to argue (politely) with them to get our towels. (2) I went to the front desk twice to ask for an extra washcloth. They never had an extra washcloth available during our three day stay. (3) Eight coffee pods were included in our room for four people for three nights. I asked at the desk for a few extra coffee pods and they refused, stating that extras cost $2.00 per pod. While the view is exceptional, the units themselves are nothing special. They have no dishwashers. There is nothing like doing dishes on vacation. All little things, you say? Yes, but for $5,600 it is annoying to have to beg for a towel or a washcloth. P.S. I know it is a Hawaiian thing but I lost a lot of sleep to the roosters at 4:00 a.m. outside our windows. It's not fun or pleasant when you are exhausted all day from lack of sleep.
