Hotel & Spa Poco a Poco

Hotel Poco a Poco was such a fun place to stay. We were there over NYE. They had an amazing buffet, a band, a fire to roast marshmallows and great drinks. We loved the staff. The pools and grounds were beautiful. We loved our time there!

Great location with restaurants and supermarkets near by. Smooth check in and out. Great atmosphere. Beautiful trail inside the hotel compound. Beautiful heated pool. Restaurant is priced high. More people would eat there if they the prices were regular. Room was had all amenties. Bathroom door kept opening at night. Comparatively priced for December.

Hotel Poco a Poco is an absolute gem with outstanding customer service, a true pura vida vibe, and lush, beautiful surroundings. The location is excellent—walkable to great restaurants, shops right across the street with cafés, restaurants, and a farmacia. Downtown is about a 10-minute walk (uphill but totally doable). The hotel itself is wonderfully unique—open to the mountain scenery, with rooms tucked away in hidden coves across different levels, giving it a very organic, and also hippy feel. The amenities are thoughtfully designed: a heated pool, hot tub, fire pit, jacuzzi pool, gym, walking trails, and even a real herb garden. The views of the surrounding hills are absolutely magnificent. The pool area is lovely, with poolside bars - the bar tender event went outside the menu to create a cocktail for me. Service truly sets this hotel apart. Every staff member was smiling, proactive, and genuinely eager to help. They go above and beyond. You can really feel how proud they are of Costa Rica’s hospitality. The on-site restaurant is very good; the only minor drawback is a limited menu This is a unique, peaceful, and thoughtfully designed hotel that delivers exceptional service and atmosphere. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended!

Nice hotel in Monteverde which has had a recent refurbishment. The gardens are especially nice. The hot tub and pool are good - the roof provides needed shelter. The bedroom had air con and enough space - the bed was a little hard. Convenient to have restaurants and shops a few minutes away without walking up lots of the hills.

This is a gem of a hotel with excellent customer service, a pura vida vibe and lush surroundings. Location is walkable to many great restaurants and shops. Breakfast is fresh and delicious. Rooms are a little dark but very clean and more than adequate. Service is beyond amazing! They go the extra mile and provide amazing resto recommendations, arrange transportation and even help w laundry needs. Pool is lovely but way too much chlorine so definitely bring your own conditioner. The town is an uphill walk but doable. Definitely stay here!

Great property with amazing amenities. The heated pool, hot tub and fire pit were well designed. The hotel has an eclectic feel. Breakfast was amazing and the omlette station was great. Only downside is that the rooms aren’t soundproof and the town can get very windy. The noise travels through the walls.

Poco a Poco had just recently completed renovations on most of their property. Construction was still ongoing and the noise during the day made it challenging to relax or to take a nap. The water was turned off in our room without prior notification and/or no communication if the water being turned off was inadvertent due to construction. The restaurant remodel is beautiful, however the service was awful. There were no guests in the restaurant when we arrived for lunch and one hostess/waitress. She was more interested in carrying on a conversation with someone else who came out of the kitchen than serving us. We didn't have a multi-course meal and it took an hour and forty minutes from the time we arrived until we left. We decided to give it one more attempt for dinner that night and when we arrived there was once again no guests and that told us everything we needed to know and left. The room we stayed in was nice and comfortable. Meal prices were consistent with the area and the menu is limited for what I would expect at a higher level hotel. There is a business center across the street from Poco a Poco with lots of choices to eat and I would highly recommend using that as a meal option. Breakfast is included and offered a selection of options for everyone. The breakfast dining area offers a really good view and stunning sunsets if you come back at that time. The grounds are well maintained and the hotel was very clean in all areas not under construction. If we get the opportunity to come back to Monteverde again I would consider staying at Poco a Poco if their recent reviews indicate a significant level of improvement over our stay. The restaurant is easy enough to overlook because better options are across the street.

this little boutique hotel called Treebu (Poco a Poco) it’s a very eclectic unique hotel, it’s not laid out like any hotel I’ve stayed in, it’s sorta on the hill, it’s very open to the mountains scenery, the rooms are all over , up down, hidden coves, they have jacuzzi pool, a gym, but very organic, European hippy vibes, nice restaurants, bars, jacuzzi, pools, views are magnificent of the hills, plus walking trails with a real herb garden! Definitely a unique experience! 5* stars even has shopping plaza right across, with restaurants, farmacia, cafe and 10 minutes to downtown!

The location of this hotel can not be beat! Right outside of downtown Santa Elena, it was super easy to pop into town (though the hill on the walk back is no joke) to grab lunch, dinner, or check out a few shops. It also has a nice little nature trail (takes 10 mins max) that connects to the neighboring hotel (extends the walk by about 10 mins), so we walked that every morning and spotted several colorful birds, coatis, and agoutis. We also enjoyed happy hour at the pool every day of our stay (half priced cocktails and 2 for $8 beers!) and found the pool to be the perfect temperature to enjoy, even when the outside temps dropped into the 60s. Definitely recommend this hotel for your Monteverde stay.

Room was very comfortable and clean. Room was on the smaller size. Pool was very nice. Music was boring. Staff was great. Beautiful gardens. Breakfast was nice. Staff could be better.
