This is a beautiful hotel in a reasonably quiet location that is very convenient for the city centre of Bath. It was useful to have parking on site. Staff were friendly and very accommodating and our room was spacious, stylish and spotlessly clean. The grounds are well maintained and there was plenty of seating to sit outside. We dined in the hotel restaurant on our last evening and the food and service were excellent.

The reason I am not rating this hotel as excellent is because there were a few things that could have been improved upon. for a boutique hotel. The shower in our bathroom was a little quirky which meant that you sometimes had to wait a couple of minutes for full pressure and/or hot water. Also the shower door did not click shut and once I inadvertently pushed it open whilst showering, resulting in a wet bathroom floor. On arrival we had a pleasant lunch in the garden and Cristina made us feel very welcome. However, I ordered a chicken Caesar salad, which was missing the anchovies and egg listed as ingredients on the menu. Cristina queried this with the chef and whilst they apologised for the missing egg, giving a slight reduction off the bill, the message from the chef was that the anchovies were included within the sauce of the salad. Well, there was no taste of anchovy and hardly any sauce so I feel it was just a case that the chef had forgotten or wasn't aware of the menu description. We were greeted warmly at breakfast but on the 2nd and 3rd day of our 3-day stay, service was very slow. It just felt like they did not have sufficient staff on duty. My husband had kippers with scrambled egg on the second day but left the scrambled egg as it was served stone cold. He was going to mention this to the staff as we left the dining room but, at this point, there was no staff around. The last negative point to highlight was the fact that when we checked out and were presented with our bill, it included a number of 'optional' service charges of around 4% per night. I queried these as could not remember seeing these mentioned on the booking.com website. I was informed it was an optional charge on top of each night's accommodation charge. I feel this is very cheeky considering that we had paid up to £517 per night for a couple (bed and breakfast) and these charges were not made clear up front. The charges were removed on request.

Great location with beautiful park across the street. Room was modern and clean. Included breakfast was one of the best I’ve ever had.
