Mill End Hotel

Can't fault it. Food was amazing, the staff perfect, and sooo pet friendly that our viszla Arnaud is already asking to go back...

Wonderful stay at the Mill End. Lovely room, balcony a pleasant surprise. Spotlessly clean. Great array of teas and coffees, the homemade shortbread was lovely. Beautiful, peaceful. The food in the evening was amazing. Just what you’d expect from a 2** rosette restaurant. The breakfast was wonderful. The lounge had a great fire going. Nice touch. Loved the fact that dogs were welcome. All made for a great stay. We will return. Thanks to all the staff

A very relaxing stay at this warm and welcoming hotel with our dog. Our room was spacious and ideal to have access straight into the garden. The lounge with wood burner is cosy and comfortable. Our meals in the small dog friendly dining area were exceptional, with service to match. A picturesque riverside walk through woodland is very close by. The boot room perfect for cleaning muddy paws afterwards. They really have thought of everything to make staying here a special experience.

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The food was exceptional and the starters and main courses changed daily - good if staying for a few nights. The staff were very friendly and the whole atmosphere of the hotel was very calm and relaxed. Our room was spacious, very warm and clean. There are some lovely walks from the hotel, especially to Castle Drogo and the village of Chagford with lovely independent shops.

Hotels with a restaurant that has a good reputation and an appealing menu has always been the attraction for us with regards a weekend away. Mill End proved to be a winner. From the word go this was a very enjoyable weekend, dispite some Dartmoor weather. The staff were super friendly and efficient and the room in the annex part of the hotel was fine. There was a good selection of tea’s and coffee with proper cups as opposed to chinzy ones. The bathroom, small but with a great shower and super hot towel rail . All very pristine and clean The balcony looked nice but the weather took over on that one. The hotel is dog friendly and us not being dog people this can often slant our choice of hotel but they gave the impression that although welcome the dogs do not rule and this certainly was true. So no problem on that score. We had two excellent meals in the restaurant complete with pre starter tasters and over the two nights a nice change of menu. This was all in all very well cooked and presented food. A very nice hotel in a lovely setting a pleasing ambience ,friendly staff and a very good restaurant. Can’t ask for more.

3 night break in an area we had not visited before . Mill End Hotel is delightful and all the staff are charming and nothing is to much trouble . It is dog friendly . Very clean throughout and our room was very comfortable . There is a boot room where we could change our footwear and dry coats and dry and clean our dog which was a bonus . Lot's of little touches like dog treats and a goody bag for the journey home . Food was good , the breakfasts were excellent with a great choice . There was a separate dining room for guests to dine with pets . The main restaurant is the only place dog's not allowed . The big lounge was nice for relaxing by the woodburner with drinks and after dinner coffees etc. We had 2 issues during our stay and they were dealt with very promptly and professionally . one was water flooding our bathroom one evening from the rain outside but it was mopped immediately and as the rain stopped did not re occur but they offered us another room if necessary and I believe they investigated the cause . Reception staff very helpful recommending lovely walks from the hotel and providing a map . Very good catering for my wife who has to have a dairy free diet .

I, and my husband, have just returned from a wonderful stay at Mill End Hotel. From the minute we arrived with our dog the experience was superb. The welcome we received was amazing which continued throughout our short stay [ not long enough]. The attention to detail in every department was exceptional. The lovely staff just completed a memorable stay. Brook, our Labrador, loved her bed, doggie treats and the amazing outside space. The food was very good and the care taken with food allergies most impressive. We will be back and thank you for making our stay so special .

We visit the Mill end hotel quite regularly, there’s a good reason for that, it feels like coming home. The Staff at Mill End could not be friendlier or kinder whilst mistaking a high degree of efficiency. We try to book Erme as this room has patio doors leading to the garden, useful when you have a dog, which we do. You can dine with your dog in a separate room, but we prefer to eat in the lovely dining room, so Luna stays in the room and sleeps! The food is superb, both at dinner from a nightly changing menu and at breakfast where there is a super breakfast buffet and plenty of choice of hot food to order and all the offerings are of a very high quality. Walks from the hotel, either up to chagford, a delightful little town or to Fingles bridge a longer walk very important when you have a dog. We will go back again and again.

This was the first time we had visited this hotel and it exceeded our expectations! We took advantage of a Travelzoo offer which included a cream tea. The food was delicious, the evening meal exceptional. Everywhere was cleaned to a high standard and our room (Ashburn) was lovely. All staff were helpful, friendly and professional. Would we go back …. In a heartbeat!😊

Such an amazing hotel, we had a truly wonderful stay. The staff were brilliant, so efficient and friendly - really all so good at what they do. The food was incredible, we had gift vouchers for the hotel so hadn’t read up beforehand and were completely blown away by the quality of the food. It was as good as we have had anywhere. We took our little dog and she was so spoiled, she was given a treat box on arrival and a sausage each morning for breakfast. The river walk along the hotel was just beautiful and an added bonus. Really couldn’t recommend it enough.
