Lovely room, great bar, the tasting menu was a great experience and tasted amazing. No wine pairing was offered, bit disappointed.

"So disappointed after looking forward to a castle stay."

4.0

Castle impressive. Was really looking forward to staying here. But Overpriced and not well kept. Rooms dreadful unfortunately. Dirty. Worn out. Dirty tissue inside tissue box. Towels worn out. Bathroom grubby and not cleaned. Room furniture was hand painted (very badly) with gouges and chips out of it everywhere. Could not use bed side drawers due to paint jamming them. One opened and was covered in paint flakes and thick dust. Very noisy all night due to fans on or some kind of low rumble noise. Food well below average and prices were very high. The price for a beer was mental and they added a 10% gratuity on it! For standing and putting beer into a glass. Almost £9!! Breakfast sausage was very nice. But that was it. Everything else was poor quality and left on my plate. I told reception about issues and they said nothing they could do now. But they would look after me on my next stay. I would certainly not stay again. Looks like only geared up for weddings and events as if these are the rooms they let people stay in (I was in 212) for a night or two I don’t think many would return.

"GB News for breakfast"

4.0

Impressive when you arrive but less inspiring as a stay. Going to breakfast and seeing a large TV playing GB News may be some people's idea of a relaxing break, but I found it nauseating. The room was a bit run down too. Staff were all very pleasant.

"Disappointed night away"

2.0

Stayed here on Thursday 26th March, the drive up didn’t disappoint us it was beautiful from the outside. Went to our room which was 201 & that’s where the charm of the castle left. Room was dark old & cold but we did have a heater & tbf we half expected its a Castle (slightly shocked that the window wall was wet.) The Resturant was where we were disappointed the most we expected fine dining it wasn’t the starter was Mini sausages huge amount & microwave HOT the mains Aberdeen Angus didn’t taste like steak & the amount of fat just turned my stomach, drinks in the bar not impressed, back to the Room kept awake by the snoring if next door (it’s a castle) didn’t expect thin walls Breakfast my stomach still not the best from the evening meal couldn’t face a full breakfast thought toast would be ok wasn’t asked if I preferred white or brown I hate Brown Bread. Hubbie ordered scrambled eggs he loves this & he couldn’t eat it Lesson learned I wouldn’t go back the place externally is definitely beautiful it’s history the grounds lovely BUT THE PLACE IS TIRED IT NEED MONEY SPENT ON THE PLACE & an overhaul on its menu

"A Beautiful Place"

10.0

Peckforton Castle is an absolutely beautiful place to enjoy a romantic night away or for us a few nights away for my birthday. This is the second time we have stayed there and will go again. The food is delicious, both breakfast and the evening meal and all the staff made our stay really enjoyable, thank you.

"Afternoon tea at Penkforton Castle"

8.0

This is a beautiful castle and is stunning inside, the staff at reception were very helpful, and friendly. They let me send them the voucher by email to them that we got as a gift, for reception to print, however I luckily checked before we left, if they had receipt it but they hadn't as the email has to be done in lower case not half Upper as the young lad said on afternoon tea duty. The young man who was doing the afternoon tea service was on his own, and very busy. He asked us if we wanted a drink to start with which we ordered a blackcurrant and lemonade, and a ginger beer. The afternoon tea came out well presented, the sandwiches felt slightly stale, wouldn't say they were freshly made. Another gripe is there were 5 small cakes on the top, and we had to cut them in half for us both to be able to try them. I think there should of been say 2 or 3 of the same each. We did have to ask for our tea though, after our cakes had arrived, which was promptly brought but not asked which tea we wanted. I am disabled, and did struggle to get to the ladies, which doesn't have a disabled toilet in it, but they were beautiful. Overall an enjoyable experience and would consider going again, if it was bought me!.

"Special experience."

10.0

Special place. Gifted by family. From Check-in to Check-out, wonderful experience. Room was fab, (Broxton)...in the Tower 😆). Had pre-booked the 9 Course Tasting Menu. Fabulous! 3 hours of superb culinary delights. Booking again soon. Highly Recommended.

"If you have a disability it’s not the best location. Food disappointing."

6.0

Lack of signage for any disabled parking. The promise of an Afternoon Tea in such a lovely location didn’t match the expectation. The dining area was fairly small. The bread for the sandwiches wasn’t particularly fresh and there was a lot of fat on the beef in particular. The cakes too were nothing to write home about and were disappointing. The scones were lovely and I enjoyed them. I suppose the imposing magnificent castle promised more. Such a shame.

"Disappointing inside. Food average at best. Lack of staff. Take minimum Our room was up 77 stone steps"

6.0

Disappointing. Stunning castle as you drive in but as you go to reception and dining it goes downhill. The more impressive parts of the castle are kept for weddings. Our room whilst lovely was at the top of a tower up 77 stone steps. There was a wedding on the evening we stayed, a Wednesday and unfortunately it’s not kept separate from hotel guests. Very noisy with antisocial behaviour and bad language during the afternoon evening and again during breakfast. Food average at best.
