"Unique!"

10.0

Was kindly gifted a stay here from my OH who knows I love to get away. The drive up to the castle is stunning and feels magical. The hotel is so unique and well looked after. we settled in to our room and headed down to the wine cellar for a drink to take to the garden. Dinner both nights was delicious and loads of options. Breakfast setting was beautiful, overlooking the grounds.

"Fit for a Queen"

10.0

Fit for a Queen…. The castle setting is rural, accessed by a private winding single track drive through woodlands graced by pheasant, you arrive at the stunning porchway or entrance…. /G Check in reception was superbly appointed as was our greeting… The Asian lady whom again I failed to get her name was super helpful and accommodating ….. thank you The room and facilities were impeccable as befits the setting…..Dine in one of two on site restaurants if required of an evening….. Super comfy bed and great shower too…. fantastically consistent pressure and heat… well done! Breakfast was in the 1851 restaurant and in my opinion was fit for a King!

"Negative, negative and negative - with a 'shocking' thrown in"

2.0

Location was perfect, we had stayed before and the entire experience was magical so I had high expectations. Unfortunately our allocated room was appalling. Shabby, old, tired, in dire need of repairs and dangerous. I caught my heel on a gripper rod (piece of wood with tacks protruding upwards to "grip" the carpet) which was exposed between the bathroom and the bedroom. There were chips in the bath, scum around the sink taps and shower as well as damaged furniture and threadbare carpet. Yes I did complain at the time [Feb '25] and chased a response monthly - I received a reply November '25 offering a 10% discount on my next booking. No thanks. I will not be returning as my overall experience was very negative and failed to meet ANY of my expectations. I was also asked to refrain from posting any negative feedback on social media as "Wedding Season" was around the corner and it could be detrimental to bookings so I refrained. Until now. "Beautiful setting let down by the breakfast experience"

8.0

We attended a magical wedding at the castle and stayed for two nights. The venue was exceptional as a wedding destination. Truly beautiful and like a fairy tale. Unfortunately, the room and breakfast did not live up to the wonderful setting. We stayed in the Wetterton room, which comprised a bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. The rooms were clean but very basic. Painted a bland and tired magnolia, which made them feel very drab, almost like a hostel rather than an expensive hotel (and it was expensive!), the rooms were quite ugly. The bathroom had seen better days as well. On the first night of our stay, there was another wedding, which meant that people were constantly back and forth along the corridor (a were on the first floor). This ordinarily wouldn’t be a problem, except every footstep shook the floor of our room dreadfully. The breakfast experience was less than desirable. Considering the cost of the stay, the breakfast choices were ridiculously small. The only choices on the breakfast menu which didn’t incur additional charges were a tiny English breakfast (one sausage and one slice of bacon included), porridge and French toast. Everything else was chargeable. One tiny glass of watered down fruit juice was included, but on both mornings, they didn’t even have any orange juice. We had to request tap water for the table. On the first morning, my husband asked for ketchup with his breakfast. After having to ask a second time, he finally received it when he had almost finished his meal. They couldn’t use the excuse of being busy. There were only four other tables occupied at the time. Terrible service.

"Great place to stay"

Spent Saturday night and this wonderful place. We had the 7 course taster meal in the 1851 restaurant. The whole team were most helpful and attentive. Really enjoyed our stay.

"The Perfect Wedding Day"

10.0

We got married in September 2025, and we had the whole wedding hosted at Peckforton Castle. Staff are attentive from organising stage to the night of the wedding. We are a Sapphic couple with an edge of alternativeness, we wanted the gothic romantic venue and Peckforton was perfect. A venue that doesn't need to be overly dressed because its so beautiful as it is. Food was perfect and the venues flexibility is wonderful. I would do it all over again and have the same venue (AND WIFE)!! Such a special shout out to Molly who was wonderful and Tammy - our day of coordinator! They both really care about their couples.

"An Amazing restaurant to go to."

10.0

We went for Sunday lunch and we had the 5 course tasting menu in the 1851 restaurant. The castle is an amazing building and the restaurant extremely comfortable, the food was very good and so was the Rocky Road Shiraz, we were served by Becky and Tash, who were helpful, friendly and polite. It was a fabulous experience, thank you. I really recommend this restaurant.

"Disappointing"

4.0

The setting of Peckforton Castle is stunning and did not disappoint. However, the actual stay was not so good. Our stay was meant to be a treat, paid for by a friend as a birthday gift, so it was more expensive than we would normally book. Our room was an executive twin, so not the cheapest. The room was large, but very dark. The bathroom was also spacious, with the promised roll top bath, but the shower cubicle was very small. The room was initially very cold, because the window was open and swinging back and forth - the catch was broken. The bedside lamps were totally inadequate - no chance of reading in bed, and the beds themselves were much too soft for us. We ate in the Brasserie in the evening. The staff were very attentive and the food was fine, but the menu was very limited. The promised breakfast was served in lovely surroundings, but there was a very limited choice, a lot of the options involved a surcharge and the food was average. The decaf. coffee was undrinkable. Our trip was a big disappointment.
