The Douglas Hotel

The view of Goatfell from our window was fantastic. The staff were friendly. The location is great - 2 minutes from ferry terminal. Only downside was having to step into high-sided bath for shower.

Good location, clean, great breakfast and lovely welcoming staff. Nothing negative to say. Would thoroughly recommend.

This is a gem of a hotel! Staff are so friendly and helpful and the rooms are spacious, extremely comfortable and quiet. And the complimentary rubber duck in the large ensuite bathroom was such a lovely touch! Food (bar meals) is delicious, and choice excellent. Breakfast was lovely too! Overall we had a fantastic stay, and we'll definitely be back!

There are lots of supposedly high quality hotels out there that look good at first but, just under the surface, soon fall apart. The Douglas Hotel is not one of them. Our room was huge, scrupulously clean, had a large Smart TV and had two large radiators that willingly produced heat day and night. Furthermore, here was ample hot water at all times for the bath and the wifi was of good quality. The breakfast was about as well cooked as you could possibly hope for (and that applies to the veggie full Scottish too) and the kippers were the best ever. Overall the hotel was excellent and the island wonderful, although a tad on the quiet side if you want to go clubbing or be continuously entertained by tourist attractions (which is more than likely what most folk who want to visit Arran crave)!
