The Douglas Hotel

We stayed in the Banner lodge, which is part of the Douglas hotel. We were delighted with it. It is beautiful inside with a large living room with two large sofas, and a tv. Plenty of room to spread out. There is a spiral staircase in the centre leading to a beautiful mezzanine bedroom with a very comfy double bed with lots of pillows . There is another small room off the living room with 2 single beds , and the bathroom is also off the living room. It is a very modern wet room with Arran Aromatics toiletries, but unfortunately the floor stayed very wet after our showers. However we still enjoyed our stay regardless. There is no kitchen in the lodge, but there is a kettle , cups and glasses. You take breakfast in the hotel.

We loved the rooms-very clean, spacious and modern. We liked the bar and the evening menu. The breakfast in the bistro was delicious. The staff were very pleasant. The location of the hotel couldn’t be any closer to the ferry terminal. We would have liked to have had more of a sea view but we did appreciate the little view that we did have and the quietness of our room location. We would have loved it if the weather had been drier but that’s out of everyone’s control.

The furnishings and decor were to my taste. Very large bed and comfortable.

Great location and property , the staff is very good

This hotel is fine place to stay. It looks good, the service is nice, the staff is friendly, the food in the restaurant is quite good....BUT it has one HUGE negative! The room was SO dark that you can't be in them. The bathroom is so dark you can't even comb your hair in the mirror, let alone put on makeup. There are exactly three lights (two bedside focused halogen and one "mood" lighted ceiling fixture) in the room. The bedside lamps are so low they can't be used for reading. It is just weird....the room is freshly updated....but whoever did it clearly has never stayed in a hotel room. There is even a nice chair to sit in, but no light anywhere near it. A sad waste of money on the part of the owners. If you can see in the dark...it is a nice place. Also, just FYI - I stayed in room "002".

Very good location, very near the ferry. It is a very nice building.

Great location - easy access from ferry and to shops and right on the bay with views over Goat Fell. Large comfortable room, stylishly furnished. Friendly helpful reception staff. Bistro disappointing for dinner - menu now more bar food than fine dining - seems to have changed in the last year, but great breakfast.

Food was wxcellent, staff were amazing and the location is a perfect base.

this is a great hotel but had a couple of issues when I stayed there was a noisy extract fan and the wifi didn't work
