Aktaion Hotel

Good hotel. Located right in front of the bridge to Monemvasia. The first hotel in front of this famous rock. Adjacent to the hotel  is located KTEL Laconia office, you can buy bus tickets to Sparti, Molaio or Athens. The room is spacious enough, there is a refrigerator inside. The balcony is rather a disadvantage than an advantage because you can hear everything from the neighbouring restaurant. Generally noisy, even deep in the evening. Be prepared for the fact that in the morning you will wake up - either because of passing vehicles or local fans to talk. Wi-Fi is slow. You can swim nearby, 150 metres away. The water, by the way, is quite clean and refreshing - at least for 27th May

Very close to all places we wanted to visit. Hotel has a very good restaurant wirh a view on small port. Closeby a small supermarket.

Hotel Aktaion is very central, adjacent to the causeway with plentiful parking. Our room was simple but clean with a small balcony overlooking the harbour. For such a central location it seemed incredibly good value.

This hotel is a very good value. It's clean and comfortable, and the staff is very nice. I had a balcony that overlooks the harbor, with a view of the mountain. It's very central, being right near the causeway to Monemvasia. You can't go wrong here.

Very friendly and attentive staff. The owner and staff went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. We arrived late New Year’s Eve and everything was closed. We asked to used their kitchen to cook some food. The owners son not only cooked it for us, he even brought it up to our room with plates and silverware. Hotel is also conveniently located.

Setting was amazing. The staff were really friendly and welcoming.

Good location, splendid view, clean. WIFI in room only worked some of the time; worked fine in hotel lobby.

This is a very nice hotel located directly across from "the rock" of Monemvasia. Parking is plentiful in the public lot directly behind the hotel and there are plenty places to eat and walk around nearby. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The owner/manager was extremely helpful with several suggestions. The only minor drawback is that this older hotel does not have an elevator.

Perfect location and comfortable stay. This hotel is right down at the junction to walk to the sites. I can understand what people say about the hotel lobby and smoke but did not experience any of that negative element during our stay. Staff were friendly and the hotel is in the heart of the harbor. I would stay here again.

We stayed here for 4 nights. The first night was noisy but it was a bank holiday. This is not a posh hotel but it has a lot going for it. On arrival, our room was immediately upgraded free of charge. (3 beds). The room was a decent size with a balcony big enough to sit out on. The view was astonishing. We were right over part of the harbour and had a good view of the Rock. The room was clean, the bathroom was reasonable. You had to hold the shower head, however. The fridge was effective, if a little noisy. A little compartment for ice but no ice tray. Staff at the bar were happy to give you ice. Plenty of room for clothes. The hotel is on the seafront just by the causeway to the Rock. No parking at the hotel but there’s a free car park just round the corner. Don’t park next to the sea as the waves will come over the wall in rough weather. Breakfast at €5 was standard fare but decent enough. We had become addicted to Greek yoghurt and honey. Cereal, toast, jam, eggs, meat, cheese. Nothing special but worth the money. Smoking can be a problem in any Greek place. There were smokers in the bar at breakfast time but they stuck to the front of the lounge and so weren’t really a problem. I’m an asthmatic and I was OK. Friendly young woman in reception, even offered to help us with the bags. No lift. The restaurant adjoining the hotel - Aktaion, also - is worth a visit. Good traditional food, very friendly staff. The seafront is home to a number of restaurants, all serving much the same stuff. Take your pick. A couple of doors down is a good wine and beer shop and all other shops are within very easy walking distance. There’s a good bakery/patisserie/ice cream parlour just across the road. And you can walk from the hotel to the old town at the back of the Rock. I’d stay here again.
