Aktaion Hotel

We were looking for a cheap place to spend the night before our visit to Monemvassia, had a quick look online and booked over the the phone so we didn't know what to expect. It turns out this was a lot better than what we had bargained for. The hotel is one of the last buildings before the bridge to the old city of Monemvasia; it overlooks the small port and the public parking nearby making it a perfect base for visiting Monemvasia by foot/public transport. The hotel itself has a cafe/bar in the ground floor with the reception on the far end, and also there is a restaurant on the side of the port. Our room had a perfect view of the port. The rooms are fairly small but functional and clean, and the beds literally built of stone are a nice touch. The small port has a wide variety of restaurants and cafe/bars; Banks, bakeries, local shops and the beach are all within 5' by foot. If you are looking at a nice place to stay with easy access to the whole of Monemvasia, this one is very well situated too.

Although the room was small and quite average, the bathroom was untiled and covered with a hideous blue paint, The shower was tiny and the shower floor was a mess. The room had a lovely view, but the small lobby was always packed with locals watching the soccer game on TV and was full of smoke, emitting a terrible hazy smell. Though the price was right,I still would not recommend this hotel.

The room was wonderful for the short trip we had to see the surrounding area. It is conveniently located next to the buses going to the Castle and to other cities in the Peloponnese. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The balcony had a great view of the port, the bridge, and the Castle.

Beautiful little village, wonderful little harbour, crystal clear water, local fishing boats bobbing in the water directly in front of the hotel, very friendly helpful staff, good food, great Greek coffee, good place to explore tip of the Mani peninsula. We came for 1 night, and stayed 3. This was best part of our exploration of the Peloponnese. Only need half an excuse to return.

Stunning views from the room's balcony. Easy to find, next to causeway to Monemvasio island. Public parking available right next door. Rooms have airconditioning and fridge. Friendly staff. We stayed on second floor- no elevator but they offered to help with the suitcases. We booked for 1 night but decided to stay for two.

Тhe rooms are small but clean with view to port.Еntrance is through the bar and tavern, which was not very well.The hotel is in a great location and has big parking.

Very close to the bridge to the island of Monemvasia and Monemvasia Old Town. Nice but not so big room to the street and a view to the island, not much noise from the trafic. nice comfortable bed, new renovated bathroom, closet OK but not so clean, A/C, POOR WiFi (best in the reception or outside on the terrace), breakfast small and not many choices, friendly but slow staff. Overall an OK hotel at a very good price in an area of cafes and tavernas + every ½ hour a bus at € 1,20 per person per way for Monemvasia Old Town.

The location of the hotel is great but the staff were way too rude! They didn't even ask our id and then they gave issues about who was staying at the room (of course they didn't know as they hadn't checked when we arrived) and us having breakfast which we had paid 20 euros for.

Very reasonably priced hotel just off the edge of the causeway to the Rock of Monemvasia. I had a single room with a great view of the rock. The building does not have a lift but is only a few floors high. The bus stop for the KTEL bus to Sparta and Athens is outside Monemvasia Travel which is only two doors away so very convenient for transport.

The location is great (just at the entrance of Monemvasia). Very good value for money. Friendly staff. The rooms are sufficiently spacious. The only drawback in our experience is that the beds were not very comfortable, but overall recommended.
