Henann Resort Alona Beach

The resort offers a very nice vantage point for Alona Beach. However, being a prime hotel has its own disadvantages. It was quite crowded and service in restaurants are not beyond longer than expected. The food quality is good and pricing is reasonable.

I have stayed at many hotels and resorts around the world and this is one of my all time favorites! I am already planning another visit in a few months. The beautiful views, the outstanding quality of the resort, the many swimming pools, and the excellent service made this a wonderful vacation experience’

We are a family of 5 and needless to say, there are some hotels that happily work to make accommodations and provide a world class experience and there are others that apparently couldn’t care less. Henann is one of those places. I totally offered to pay any amount so that my family and I could stay together. But even in their largest suite they said the max capacity is 2 people and only up to 4 if I pay more per night per child (my kids are 7,9, and 14). So, they required to book another room at full price so that the 5th person could stay at Henann. Depends on which way you slice it but essentially I paid for one additional room to accommodate one child. Then at check out, after all the circular reasoning of why I needed an extra room for one of my kids - just so Henann can balance the proverbial check book - I was then asked to pay, not only for an additional room but now and extra person charge. The service at the front desk was far, far below what we’ve experienced at any other place that has actually been 5 star. And for the record, I paid everything. Except I refused to pay the extra person charge which came to be about USD 15$. The reasoning was so inept it’s hard to comprehend. I spent hundreds of dollars more so that one additional person - one of my kids - could stay with us. There are many great things about Henann but customer service is not one of them - at least not when it counts. It’s always nice to have happy smiley faces around but when it comes to money this place is going to get it from you one way or another and at any cost.

Traveling with a family of 5 is never easy - in pretty much any place we’ve visited. Some places, however, make it easy. They are accommodating, understand the needs of families with small children and are willing to work with you. Other places are not so great, and nickel and dime for as much as they possibly can. Henann Alona is one of those places. I booked a room well in advance for 1, so I could be close to diving. Then, my family wanted to join. I asked the front desk how I can have my family stay. I was told any room available was good for two people and I’d pay extra for each person above that number. And, the most per room is 4. So essentially I’d need to pay for one full room to accommodate the one person they would not allow in my room. Which, btw, was a junior suite, one of the largest rooms they have with multiple beds, couches, chairs - you get the point - plenty of room. And I explained I’d be willing to pay whatever to have my whole family stay. So, to accommodate my 7 year old son I had to book another room at full price - which include multiple beds, toiletries etc. If you’re looking for a family friendly, accommodating place, this may not be it. There are many other more friendly- and honestly - less greedy places than Henann.

We love everything about this hotel. Staffs are so nice. Breakfast was good. Surely will come back.

Nice place....

Quite a bit disappointed with our stay at this resort for various reasons. The property is beautiful and well appointed. Rooms are large and beds are comfortable. However, there were a couple things that disappointed my husband & I during our Holy Week stay. 1. Molds in bathroom. This is a health hazard. 2. Painting in the hallways with no signs or warnings whatsoever, we could smell the fumes in our bedrooms. 3. Perhaps the most embarrassing and unclassy of all, their buffet had signs of a “you will be charged a fee for any leftovers”. There are so many other languages they could’ve used to say this, or put some effort into posting this other than a cheap acrylic signage, or just leave it alone. Additionally, I had guests join us for breakfast all mornings we were there (we would pay for their check separate from our room), the staff approached us WHILE we were at the buffet getting food to sign the check for my guests. We were holding our plates and didn’t even have anywhere to put them. I thought that was really unprofessional. Staff needs training. 4. My husband walked me to the restaurant for breakfast and turned around as he decided to go work out first. He came back supposedly for breakfast but was turned away because he had already checked in earlier when he came with me. He did not sit down to eat earlier, we didn’t think that mentioning our room number earlier would mean we’re both crossed off the list. He tried to argue this but got stressed and also found this a little embarrassing having to argue to eat, something we paid for. This put a huge bad taste in our mouths for the rest of the stay. Staff needs to pay better attention and honestly just needs to handle situations like this better. Honorable mention would be that several staff members (front desk and restaurant) approached us in different occasions to ask the same question - if the guests joining us at breakfast were also staying in the room. Presumably to charge an extra person fee. Generally, it felt that the staff were on edge altogether and it takes away the class of this resort. We got annoyed at the end of our stay and thought this was particularly unorganized and felt cheap.
