Patterdale Hotel

The fact that we seemed to be the only guests who were not back for a return stay speaks for itself! One couple we spoke to were back for their 10th visit! If you re looking for an upmarket hotel-this is not for for you but the Patterdale was fantastic. Clean, spacious lounge area, room just right, brilliant staff- the fact that the prices are very reasonable and included a 3 course evening meal sets this hotel above others. It was great after a day walking not to have to think..'where shall we eat tonight' not that there are many places available her as the area is quite isolated but to be able to go down to a dining room with excellent service from the staff and enjoy a well thought out 3 course meal with portion sizes just right really made this a relaxing stay. Must mention the staff here as they are fantastic-if only our shops copied them!!The staff were helpful, polite and what was great was when we mentioned at the front desk we were going up Hellvellyn (which is close) they were able to give good advice-which we followed (DONT GO ALONG STRIDING EDGE!!) and a member of staff showed us pictures he had taken the previous day to give us an idea of weather conditions. fantastic place-book it!! We would go agin but are just about to become dog owners and sadly at present-no dog friendly rooms.

Location and food were excellent however I found it extremely expensive for a very tired hotel. They are always full due to perfect location for walking/hiking etc but they need to update the bedroom.

Hotel is great, in a fantastic spot, we were half board and it was brilliant, the food is great, plenty of it and a good Menu, if you want cheap food go over the road but if you want great well served food in a nice restaurant stay in, bar good, and all the staff are great, well worth the money, see you again.

Ideal location at the start of many walks round Ullswater. Breakfast buffet is hearty, dinners are reasonable (choice out of 3 starters, mains and desserts), staff are very helpful, rooms are clean and comfortable.

As good as we expected. In the Lakes a lot depends on the weather which was ok.

Great location and views being at the beginning of Ullswater. Service, food, facilities all v.g providing excellent value.

Great location in Patterdale easy walk to Glenridding and boat service around the lake to access other walks without having to use a car.
