The Highwayman Hotel

Friendly and accommodating staff, large clearn room (room 3) with table, small sofa and good size bathroom, good TV, provision for hot drinks. Very comfortable bed, room was perfect temperature (whilst very cold outside). Good parking and evening meal was fine. Wifi no problem. Nice location next to canal. I hadn't expected much as this is a truly inexpensive hotel, but I was happy to have such a pleasant and comfortable stay setting me up for the day of work ahead in nearby Oxford.

Slightly 'worn' feeling about the room but not too complain about - I've spent twice as much in hotels for half the standard. Breakfast not shown as inclusive although I didn't want any so nice to have the choice.

Staff were so helpful, Will on greeting and showing us our room, and lovely efficient and friendly bar lady who also served us our food and helped with our room towel change. Nothing was too much trouble. Food excellent. Thank you to the chef! Nice quiet room was spacious, perfect temperature, clean, comfy and cosy. TV great. Bath with whirlpool great. Hot powerful shower. Near the canal for nice walk before dinner. Handy co-op walking distance. Parking plenty - nice view from room x Can’t comment on breakfast as we didn’t book that.

Mattresses a bit squeaky but didn’t really bother us.

Nice welcome, amazing building, love the feel of the bar though we didn't stay for a drink.

Everything was great - clean, good facilities. Lovely room. All we could possibly need though would've been nice to have some bottled water. We just needed a quick stopover hotel and as such it was great: problem was the beds. They were very clean but the mattresses were really uncomfortable. Really hard pillows too. We didn't sleep well and woke with sore backs from the feel of the springs in the mattress. We would have had breakfast but as a celiac there were no options for me. Very reasonable price, lovely hotel.

The location of the building was beautiful. I can imagine in the summer sitting out overlooking the canal with a cold beer. The young lady who welcomed us, booked us in and served us for dinner was very welcoming and friendly.

Our mattress was very tired and uncomfortable which hurt my back and didn't get a restful night's sleep as it kept waking me up. Also the fire alarm that flashes is located above the bed which was annoying at night. The carpets could do with replacement or at least freshening up, it night make the room smell a bit nicer too.

A real pit for such a good accessible location wirh great parking

Didn’t have breakfast

Not sure that the sheets were fresh. Some idiot in next room was singing at top of his voice at midnight.

The location was ideal for walking into Kidlington to nearby, pubs and restaurants.

The continental breakfast was appalling. There was only cereal and sliced bread with one fruit, an orange and children's yoghurt pots. There were no pastries whatsoever in the continental, as per the menu both online and in the restaurant area. The coffee pot was not even working fully until 9.30am, yet breakfast was to be finished by 10am. Service was very slow. I cant believe i was charged £7.50 for this breakfast.
