"Pet friendly inn"

10.0

There was a little confusion over whether there was a room available, probably due to having to set one aside for Hotels.com I decided to try Hotels.com to see if it showed any availability and to my surprise it did. There was no chef on a Monday, so my wife and I were unable to eat on the premises. Booking somewhere to eat during the season on the island is a lottery, with similar chance of success, so if you plan to stay on a Monday, book ahead of time. We had a very peaceful night, the location of the inn is perfect for visiting the Tennyson Monument, but is a bit of a steep climb up the hill, which is alongside the inn. Room was clean, had all the usual facilities and we were allowed to stay with our family pet. A rare opportunity on the west of the island. My wife and the delightful 'Allie' struck up conversation at the bar on the first evening and all of her patrons were just as friendly.

"Comfortable stay"

8.0

The hotel was convenient and pleasant, although it was not obvious where we should check in when we arrived. Tea and coffee in the bedroom was very welcome. As we were a long way out of town, we used the onsite restaurant in the evening. It was obviously very popular with the locals and booking was necessary. They very kindly found us a table although we had not booked. We found the food OK but pricey. I wouldn't choose the meat pie again, however.

"Convenient location"

8.0

We arrived late as we had to catch a later ferry. Arrived at venue at 8.20pm and was told that they had stopped serving food. Advertised as 9.00pm on website. Had to go out for food, so time we got back at 10 .30pm place was all locked up and in darkness, tried key in front door and a few other doors around building. Did not fit any door, knocked but no one answered was just going to leave, when i decided to check side of building. Found another door inside a attached outbuilding which had a sign saying ladies toilet fortunately there was another door which the key fitted. What a relief. Had a brillant night sleep, very quiet place, bed was very comfortable. Room was okay, only downside was coffee had gone hard in the jar. Good job we had brought some of our own. Cooked breakfast was reasonable, mushrooms and egg was a bit greasy. Furniture and tableware was very grubby i e. food stuck to menu, salt and pepper, dining room chair very dirty. Staff were very friendly. Apart from these unfortunate incidents I probably, would stay again, location was in pleasant surroundings and very near to the Needles.
