Alexander Guesthouse

This hotel is affiliated with hotel Alexander, one street away, where you have to check in.

Stayed here one night passing through. Close to train station, staff were friendly and efficient. Room was clean and modern. Area is quite lively with bars and pubs nearby, and central Zurich over the canal. Price was very reasonable compared to other nearby hotels.

5-7 mins walking distance from main train station. There are two properties for Alexander , one a three star hotel and another a two star guest house, both are just a block away. the price difference is not much and covers for the breakfast that you get only in the hotel. the check-in for both the properties is at the Hotel which happens to be on the happening street full of - bars, nightclubs, restaurants. We just stayed for a night (few morning hours) in the guest house. they allowed us a late check out by 1pm for free, thanks to them as we partied till early morning. the room was nice, clean and spacious. friendly and accommodating staff.

Stayed there as it was in the heart of Zurich

Very small room but was clean and neat for a hot shower and rest at night. Service staff certainly lived up to the standard of "Swiss hospitality". Most friendly service encountered on our Europe trip. Neighborhood was convenient with a supermarket (migros express) on the next street and Bryce cafes/restaurants as well. However, the street to the right became dodgy at night; not a problem though if you turn into the hotel from the opp street but was still uncomfortable when we chanced on the wrong street the first night. Check in also took place a street away at their sister hotel with a very similar name; the signage for Alexander guesthouse was also not very prominent so locating it initially was tedious.

Noisy neighborhood. We were "upgraded" to the hotel Alexander so can't speak to the guest house.

This is a budget option -- by Zurich standards -- a building close to and operated by Hotel Alexander, in the center of the Old Town and a five minute walk from the train station. What makes it really work well is that the staff of the parent hotel is extremely accommodating and nice.

Perfect location in historic downtown. Close to the train station. Easy access - lively area at night. But, rooms were quiet!!!
