I think it should be pointed out that this property although in a good location and is a perfectly good guest house has FOUR floors and NO lift. I as a single traveller aged 82 and recovering from a serious illness was given room 15 which is on the 4th floor, the room had a sea view but although it had a washbasin in the room the toilet and shower was elsewhere. The breakfast was good and well presented

The location of The Riviera is brilliant. A few minutes walk to all the main attractions in Whitby and right on the sea front. We loved the hotel, the renovation that has been done is brilliant, modern and traditional mixed together which works really well. The hotel feels homely, and was very clean. The measures put in place to ensure everyone was safe were very good. Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable, with a sea view as well - even from the bathroom! Breakfast was freshly cooked with a big choice and very tasty. The staff couldn't do enough for us, making sure we had enough food. We absolutely loved our stay here and definitely want to go back. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Our stay in the riviera was lovely. The location, cleanliness, breakfast & the general feel of the hotel was better than most hotels. We particularly enjoyed the view of the beach from the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our break & would definitely stay in the hotel again & recommend to our family & friends.
Had a wonderful stay, property is across the road from the ocean so lovely views. Room was a nice size and had everything I needed. Breakfast was delicious. It's about a 10 minute walk to train station. Hosts very friendly. Would definitely stay again.
The Riviera is a great experience, nice breakfast, great staff, very organized communication when dealing with bookings. Good facilities in the room and great views from the room I had. The only drawback for some travelers may be the stairs for the upper floor rooms, but if you are young enough in body and mind the views are worth it to take one of those rooms.
I had a good trip. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the weather was good and my room was very clean, great shower.
