View was great.

A little dated, parking not great in back lane.

The property is right on the promenade.. and there is areas other front where you could sit and enjoy the view, or just go down there steps and walk along the pro…. Kathy the owner who was very friendly and made us feel welcome..

The property was perfect for us , however, would be concerned if anyone booking if they had any mobility issues .. There is limited parking outside the property as it’s on the street with other homeowners .. however, you can park at the places and no charge..

The Guest House is situated in the middle of Newbiggib Bay, offering fabulous views and sunrises. The hostess , Kathy, is a warm and friendly person and very knowledgeable about the area. She made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. We will be returning to The Captains Lodge - it was a lovely place to stay, and we can't recommend enough.

The best thing about The Captain's lodge is it's prominent location on the sea front right behind The Couple sculpture in the bay. It is so close to the sea that with a window open you can hear the waves rolling on the sands, which is lovelly. Kathy had thoughtfully provided binoculars so you could have a closer look at things on the landscape and ships and boats in the sea. There was always something to look at, swimmers walkers,runners, and even horse riders some times The owner does not offer breakfast , but it was just a short walk to the area where there were cafes that did. Our room was large,very clean, and had a lovely ensuite shower. Kathy kept us well stocked up with tea and coffee supplies and biscuits. Our room was warm, the bed was very comfortable. Alltogether a very nice place to spend a few nights

One point I have to raise is that if anyone in your party has mobility issues, The steps and path from the front of the property to the promenade are not ideal. some have no handrails and are very steep. Also as lighting at the front of the property, and on the promenade is very poor, For safety reasons,you can only use it in daylight. After dark, access is only by the rear entrance, which is where the car parking is. Parking space is a bit limited in the street. We had access to private off street parking, but the entrance is a bit tight, and if you had a wide car you might struggle. There are however two or three free car parks in the town, but some are a a little walk away.

The location is spectacular.
