"Get Immersed in the Culture"

10.0

We decided to get lodging for our Rio stay "off the beaten path" away from the concrete high rise hotels of Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Our stay at the Quinta Azul was great. We received friendly service, comfortable accommodations and a unique Rio experience in the Santa Teresa neighborhood. Santa Teresa has many local Bars and restaurants well worth experiencing even if you have to drive to them from outside of the area but were all within a short walk from the Pousada. I'm a "value conscious" traveler and I thought we really got our money's worth which is not common in Rio!

"Great location not worth the price"

4.0

First thing - Santa Teresa is a great area and worth visiting / staying in...just think about other accommodation. We had the room positioned under the breakfast area. We had crashing noises from above until the early hours of the morning which started again at 6am when the breakfast is being set up. The bathroom door was broken (no latch in he door handle and the hole in the door frame was a different level to where the latch should be) and when we pointed it out they promised to fix it early the next day. They didn't fix it during our stay so we had to use the soap dispenser to close the door. All of the breads on the first morning's breakfast were stale (actually rock hard) and we returned on the second day to find the cleaner had left their jacket hung over our clothes. The hotel has since written to me claiming to be good value as they believe a 400 thread count on sheets and a Jacuzzi on the balcony (which were not why we had selected this accommodation make up for the other shortfalls). Sadly, despite the noise from setting up breakfast, it doesn't start until 8am but if you want to visit any of the attractions in Rio, like Christ the Redeemer or Sugarloaf mountain you need to be away long before that to beat the queues. Such a shame as we had looked forward to visiting this accommodation based on other reviews.

"Green space in Saint Thersa"

10.0

Spacious and pleasant room, good bathroom, and lovely indoor-outdoor balcony under the trees for breakfast, casual drinks, lounging, admiring the view and feeding the monkeys. Area is lively and interesting: bars, restaurants, craft shops. Close to Central district, up the hill over the cobblestones. A clear alternative to modern hotels in the beach strip - we loved it.

"Perfect Hotel for the St. Teresa area"

10.0

My son and I recently spent three days at this hotel, perfect location and atmosphere for a pousada in St.Teresa. The Quinta Team staff is very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. Morning breakfast is the perfect start to your day, a great indoor outdoor atmosphere with occasional marmosets watching you from the trees.

"Exceptional"

10.0

We had a very good stay in this hotel. The staff were all very competent and kind and spoke good English. They allowed us to stay until our flight time at night without any additional charge, which was very helpful. The hotel is built on a hill slope and so there are many many steps between different levels of the building. Anywhere you go, you need to climb these steps, which might be difficult for elder travelers.

"A different kind of experience"

10.0

good: great location on hill overlooking the city, Bars and Restaurants near by, local area, save, clean, helpful and friendly staff, good service, healthy and good breakfast bad: quite a hike up the hill after a long day in town - take the crazy driving Buses or a Taxi, do not expect a Hotel

"Nice guesthouse in Santa Teresa."

8.0

My husband and I spent a week at this lovely guest house. The room was very comforting--the bed was comfortable, the bathroom modern and clean, and the air conditioner very effective! The staff very friendly and accommodating to our needs, The location was perfect for us, as the person we wee visiting lives in this neighborhood. Cabs frequently passed by making access to the rest of Rio easy. It was a little noisy as buses rumble by frequently and dogs in the neighborhood bark more energetically than is usually allowed in the US, but we enjoyed being in an authentic neighborhood rather than a more sanitized tourist enclave.
