"Our experience"

10.0

We found the staff and comfort of the hotel to be excellent. This hotel is not for everyone, however. The dining area requires many steps to reach, so it would not do for anyone who is disabled. For us, it was excellent. We also especially liked the cool pool after a hot day out on the town.

"Great stay"

Hotel was quiet and charming. Set in the traditional part of the city away from the hustle & noise of downtown. Room was of a good standard and size. Breakfast was really good. Staff were really helpful.

"Could have been a 3 or even 4 if..."

6.0

The first room that they put us in was in the basement. It was like being in a dungeon. The hallway smelled like urine, the room smelled like a toilet and it was very cold even though we didn't have the AC on. The next night, we asked to switch to another which was significantly better it didn't smell and was warmer. If only they had given us that room first our rating would have been higher. If you stay here ask for a room on one of the upper floors.

"Quick trip to Rio Dejaneiro"

8.0

The staff at the hotel are very welcoming, friendly and helpful with everything. Loved the deck where breakfast was served which made us feel more like staying at a friend's house and got to see small monkeys near the table and in the trees ! The rooms are all designed to give privacy and the location was fantastic with cafes and restaurants nearby. The service was so fantastic without overwhelming.

"Worth every cent!"

8.0

The place really felt like home, specially because of how outstandingly friendly the staff is. The room was small but it had everything we needed and it was very cute, the bed was comfy and the views to the inner garden were very nice. We could see the little monkeys playing on the tree! That was awesome. Besides, Santa Teresa is a great neighborhood. It always feels like we're on a tour when going back home (oops, to the hotel, I mean!). The cobble stone streets, the paintings on the walls, the several bars and the relaxed people around... it's a very nice place to walk around and very close to important things for tourists: the airport (Santos Dumont) is a R$15 cab ride away, the Christ and the Sugar loaf are a R$20 cab ride away as well. We spent 5 nights in Quinta Azul and we would definitely stay there again.

"Great boutique Hotel in the center of Santa Teresa"

10.0

We had a great experience in Quinta Azul! The staff was really friendly and helpful! We arrive very late for check in (around 3 AM) and Jorge was waiting for us. Carlos and Jorge were always there to give us good advice about sights, restaurants, etc. They both speaks english. The breakfast was excellent (a lot of fruits, eggs, yogurt/milk, cheese&ham, cake, musli, cereals toast, juice, coffee/tea)! The main area where the breakfast is served is charming! there's a nice terrace with a lot of vegetation around it! Our room was great : big comfy bed, air con, hot water! And the location was great, in the heart of Santa Teresa, this nice bohemian neighborhood of Rio :)

"Great location, superbly friendly & helpful stafs"

8.0

We had a great stay at the Quinta Azul - for us the location (20 mins of so from the beaches) was ideal and all the staff we met were incredibly helpful, well informed and very polite Whilst the hotel was very well maintained, the quality of the finish in our room was not what we'd expect from a boutique hotel. For example, there were no pictures on the walls;, the drain for the bath was 2cm higher than the tiles on the shower floor meaning that the water didn't drain away; there wasnt a mirror in the bedroom; there was no wardrobe space - just an 'ikea' type wall hat/umbrella stand to hang things off. We stayed for 4 nights and the bed was only made on one morning. Having said that, the hotel breakfasts were really good and we had fresh fruit, juices, breads, cakes etc every day - and it was lovely to eat out on the veranda each morning. I just think that hotel needs the same attention to (finishing) detail that was shown in the public areas to be reflected in the bedroom/bathroom
