"Interesting location"

8.0

Interesting location high up in the old part of town in Santa Teresa, beautiful breakfast terrace, friendly service (although the taxi we ordered from the hotel didn't show up), close to bars and restaurants.

"Great stay"

Very well located boutique hotel: in Santa Teresa but close to Lapa so lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance. We regret that we could only stay 1 night.

"great visit in Rio"

10.0

This was the first time I had stayed at a boutique hotel. We arrived in the dark and I was really frightened as the "front " of the hotel did not look like a hotel at all - just a small entry. The the stairs~ I was really worried. But such a pleasant surprise. The receptionist spoke English and was super helpful. The room was nice and clean. The area is now quite well known for its artists and great restaurants. I would definitely stay there again if I were to go back to Rio

We stayed couple of nights there and we liked the experience. Friendly staff, clean rooms, tasty breakfast. A bit pricy i would say, but good. Solid 4 out of 5

"Great place in the most charming part of Rio"

10.0

I stayed here on a conference trip for 6 nights whilst colleagues stayed in Copacabana and Ipanema - and guess who had the best time? The room was really comfortable and the balcony was great for sitting and reading whilst looking out over the valley watching the marmosets leap around the trees. But really, Quinta Azul is located in one of the best parts of Rio, Santa Teresa, which brims with good food, artist studios, and fantastic views. It is a <10 Real (US$5) cab ride to the nightclubs and bars of Lapa, and <30 Real (US$15) to the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. The staff provided towels for the beach and were very helpful in organising cabs and could recommend good knowledgeable local tour guides for the favelas and the tourist sights when needed. The breakfast (included) was a lavish spread of tropical fruits, with bread, cheese and ham. Delicious omelettes could be made on request. Unlike my colleagues who stayed beachside and felt they never experienced the 'real Rio', a five minute walk from Quinta Azul gets you amazing graffiti art (from the renowned Santa Crew), narrow twisty streets, and so many choices for some of the tastiest food I've had in my travels. Was it safe? Totally. I never felt concerned for safety except perhaps at 1am after a gig in Lapa (predictably) and the area around the hotel was fine.

"Great place to stay in Rio!"

10.0

Amazing experience.... As soon as we arrived the friendly staff welcomed us offering us tea and helped us finalise check in... Then spent some time with a map marking areas worthy of visiting and worthy of noting... Talked to us about food options and were so so so helpful.... Booked cabs for us, organised deliver of food etc etc etc... I've been to over 30 hotels in my life, this by far the best... Well definitely recommend and return when I'm in brazil.. The place is so central too which was great..

"Quaint little hotel"

10.0

Quaint little hotel. The rooms were simply furnished, but clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were was very friendly, courteous and went out of their way to accommodate our needs - we requested a late check-out (subject to availability) as our flight was leaving in the evening. We really appreciated being able to have use of the room, to rest and clean-up before our long flight home. This hotel is not ideal for anyone with knee problems as there are a lot of stairs. We loved the visit of the local monkeys at breakfast time, they were very entertaining. We felt very safe in the neighborhood and enjoyed a delicious dinner at Marco - one of the local restaurants. I would definitely consider coming back.

"Great boutique pousada and great service"

10.0

Had a wonderful stay at Quinta Azul. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful in organising outings and with recommendations. The pousada itself is beautifully decorated. Only thing I would recommend for improvement is having wifi access in the rooms. It was a bit inconvenient having to go to the common area to access the internet. But overall great stay in Sta Teresa!

"Lovely staff. Wonderful breakfast on the patio."

What lovely people work here at Quinta Azul! They made everything so easy -- it is a small personalized pousada but with concierge services of a bigger hotel. Would definitely return!

"Excellent"

8.0

Very nice hotel, friendly, good to be able to speak english. Disappointed to be charged 10% on top of quoted price, this didnt happen anywhere else we stayed. Also ordered early taxi which didnt arrive and there was nobody there to sort it out, in other hotels there were staff there at all times.
