The Star Inn 1744

The location was perfect for my trip, very comfortable rooms. The food and the staff were excellent. The bar staff were so friendly and helpful.

For me the pillows were too hard but that’s personal preference. Parts of the room need a bit of tlc but we’re good overall.

It was close to where we needed to be to meet my daughter When first arrived it looked very pretty and they had arranged a table for us in restaurant where ch I wouldn’t have thought of so was perfect given how busy it was fur New Year’s Eve and food was lovely

Only minor comment would be that due to the New Year’s Day bank holiday they were only serving continental breakfast not traditional breakfast so didn’t access breakfast

Extended stay for 3 additional nights and any small hiccups on first night were corrected The upgraded room was exceptional clean ,bright with wonderful views across the green and street decked out with decorations Both the hotel staff and the restaurant and bar staff could not have done more to make you feel welcome Would i stay here again definitely would i recommend to others definitely Word of warning if coming in the winter ensure that you have your wellies and good outdoor clothing this place is perfect for a walking holiday in the surrounding areas Final comment perfect location in a traditional English village

The hotel and restaurant and bar are run as separate entities but again when the staff got to know you you were treated like a local which was refreshing The Sunday roast was exceptional with a good selection of traditional roast and alternatives The white bait starter was fresh and cooked to perfection the roast dinner was good However my first night had an exceptional Malbec the last night they had run out and offered a substitute which in my and my friends opinion was very poor and not in the same league as to what's on the menu Secondly until we paid could not give us a price but charged at the menu price when unfortunately on googling it was found to be cheap supermarket wine Would i eat here again yes Would i visit and eat and drink yes but would check on the brand and price of Malbec first Would i recommend to others yes a real rural country pub with the views to match
