Hampton Inn Ottumwa

My Mom and I stayed here and few weeks back and woke up to cockroaches in the room (see pics). The front desk still charged me for the room! Hampton Inn has lost a loyal customer for life. I’ve never been treated more disrespectfully. Do yourself a favor and keep driving past this Hampton Inn!

The good: it’s a hotel room, with beds and a private bathroom. Rooms are fairly clean. Room #1 of the evening had crumbs and sticky on the chair, and I cleaned it. The elevator works. The bedding is typically Hampton Inn, but mattress is stained. The bad: Room # 1 smelled of very strong cigarette smoke. This is a non smoking hotel. Smoke seemed to be coming through bathroom vent, so I closed the door, and called front desk. Front desk offered a non preferred room (Hilton Diamond member) so I could change rather than addressing problem. The front desk staff came to the room, and admitted it was problematic. Second room had ripped blinds, so unable to achieve privacy, much less a dark sleeping environment. Was moved to a room where neighbors had TV on high volume past midnight. Walls are paper thin. Nice to have a room with a bed, would be even better if sleep was a possibility.

The only thing that could improve is the accessible bathroom did not have any bars by the toilet to hold on to to get up.

Check-in was quick & easy. Room was clean & comfortable. Breakfast had options such a biscuits & gravy, sausage, cereal/toast/bagels, fresh fruit, oatmeal & yogurt. Waffle maker.

Nice spacious room. Internet service was horrible.

For $200.00 a night. I expected more. Room was clean but big stains on the ceiling. Furnitures with stains.

Location was good. Oatmeal and breakfast potatoes were very good.

Our room was 207 and the bathroom door did not function correctly. It only could open to a certain point so it could not be flush against the wall when opened. Certainly would think house keeping would have made mention of that to repair it. Considering it's a handicapped room, that makes it a bit dangerous for getting up in the middle of the night. Also it would have been nice to have it pointed out that we wouldn't get fresh towels other than the note on the mirror unless they were requested.
