Perfect location, friendly staff, good room, coffee and tea, real milk if wanted and bottles of water. Good breakfast, including gluten free toast.

Location was ideal for Glyndebourne. Staff were very welcoming at reception, in spite of our late arrival. We all enjoyed the breakfast very much.

The breakfast was outstanding, made from good quality produce and beautifully cooked. The barmaid was friendly, as were the lady who showed us to our room and the owner. The bar is relaxing with a good vibe. The building is very pretty and has been newly refurbished, very tastefully. Very handy for Glyndebourne Opera House which is four miles away.

The minute we arrived to book in a woman behind the bar, who we never saw again, asked me to pay my balance. We hadn't even got our key at this point. Very abrupt manner, out of step with all the other staff. We were staying at the inn to attend the opera at Glyndebourne, for which smart dress is required. My Scottish husband wears his dress kilt. In previous visits we've had larger rooms, but this time we were in The Firle. It is nicely furnished and equipped but very small for two people needing to change and hang up evening wear on an open rail which is over the side of the bed. We didn't know this smaller room existed until we were taken to it.

The room was clean and spacious. Also very friendly staff.

I stayed in the Selmeston room. It wasn’t the cleanest. The bed sheets were fresh. Unfortunately cobwebs around the ceiling. The carpet looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in a while. Hair around the bath and sink. The food was only ok. I ordered a side of onion rings that were rings of grease.

Room and bathroom were a bit grubby, could do with a deep clean.

Excellent accommodation and breakfast. Happy to be going again shortly.
