"A very enjoyable stay with good food and a proper village pub experience"

9.0

The staff were friendly and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable with nice linen and the towels were soft and fluffy. Tea and coffee in the room with fresh milk provided. Also chilled bottled water. The food was very good as was the beer.

"No Breakfast No staff"

5.0

Location suited my needs

The fact that I paid for bed and breakfast..was told breakfast was from 8am to 9.30 am ..in the morning the place was deserted,no staff at all ..and we left without breakfast ..left key in door .

Breakfast was excellent. The room was definitely not Luxurious as described. Shower curtain was filthy at bottom and furniture 'scruffy'. Carpet had lots of bits on and room was freezing. Staff and food very good. Very overpriced at £160 for one person!

"Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings"

9.0

This was a lovely hotel and some of its staff really went the extra mile to help with our requests. A special mention to Alex who is an absolute gem. He made us a cooked breakfast beyond the usual breakfast times when we arrived earlier than normal check-in time. Breakfast was good on both mornings therefore. Our bed was comfortable, our shower was wonderfully powerful and there was a really pretty outside area at the back of the hotel. I really liked the place.

Communication needs to be better. I received no reply on Booking.com despite two messages asking if we could check-in early. When I phoned the number shown for the hotel, I got through to the (very helpful) woman who was only responsible for uploading the information on booking.com. She gave me the contact details and I E mailed my request. I got a very helpful reply from Jess reassuring us that we could either get changed in our assigned room pre-clean, or if it was still occupied by the previous night's guests, an alternative room would be available. Finally, my husband phoned the day before to enquire about whether we would be able to get some food at the hotel, prior to our function. He was assured this was possible and the staff member gave him a name to ask for. When we arrived, the person we'd been advised to ask about the food wasn't due in for some time (Alex came to the rescue!) and it was very lucky I had my E mail from Jess to show, as the staff member assigned to prepare the rooms hadn't been made aware of this concession, and was most unhappy about it. This is not a criticism of her, but it was another example of poor communication and not managing guests' expectations very effectively. Once these issues had been resolved, it was a wonderful stay.
