"A very nice place to stay while walking the South Downs Way"

A lovely welcome; the room was nice with a very comfortable bed and powerful shower. Lovely terrace to have a drink in. The food at dinner was very nice.

The dining room fittings (tables, chairs, cutlery, glasses) could be updated and it would be so much nicer. But food and service were great.

Second time we had stayed at The Castle. Great staff in the evening, good ales. Clean and comfortable. Parking good.

Food was ok in the restaurant but didn’t blow us away. Breakfast good but understaffed poor girl running around. Our room, room 3 was spacious and lovely but the hot water to the shower was a joke. Took 20 minutes to get it to work, not quite as long for the basin and bath but really unexceptional.

"On the whole a great success"

Room was very clean beds were comfortable new bathroom Both dinner and breakfast were very good Staff were excellent nothing was to much trouble

Not really anything to dislike but we felt there was not a very well situated electric socket for the use of hair appliances and no shaver socket in the bathroom although obviously fairly recently fitted.

Comfy bed, oat milk and biscuit and hot chocolate in room Friendly team Delicious breakfast Lovely evening meal Parking available Quiet room at night

Couple of marks/ stains on linen Room dark. Main window in bathroom but bathroom lights and extractor on sensor so couldn't have door open to let natural light in as noise of extractor
