Batam View Beach Resort

It was quiet at the villa side where we stayed.

The room is dated. The mattress was hard and the pillows were flat. TV doesn't have decent channels nor good coverage. Food was mediocre. We had the club sandwich and it tasted awful. Not impressed with the food we had at the Kelong either. Breakfast spread was the only time we got some decent food. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful except the one lady staff at the lounge that snapped at me when I asked if we could sit at a particular table. Overall, I felt the place did not give me value for the money we spent.

Objectively, the hotel is fine and though the communal areas are a little dated, the rooms are modern and mostly clean, and the staff are all friendly and helpful. For the price and location, was not a million miles from other similar resorts. However, the Hotels.com information was inaccurate and misleading on some room types. Majority of imagery + info refer to / show elements only available in premium rooms / the villas, whereas the majority of rooms don’t have these features and are more basic - e.g. I booked a Deluxe Room on the basis of the information listing of a King Bed and having a bath tub. On check in, it was a twin bed, no bath and no furniture on the balcony (and the wifi was poor). The staff were able to help me change rooms to what I’d been expecting, which was then more like the large, spacious room with a tub + furniture in the listing. Other issues I might have otherwise overlooked, but due to the room issues just meant I was disappointed and wouldn’t come back: food was only OK, was nice being able to see the sea and Singapore views, but construction looks messy and was noisy at times, as was the party resort across the water. Rooms appeared clean, but I did unfortunately see a couple of bugs/insects in bed the last night of my stay.

Clean, nice facilities, clean swimming pool, just the hotel room entrance door too narrow. Everything else is good, breakfast not bad, just average hotel breakfast

Very clean and need also the welcome drink was fantastic. The food was yummy too. Very friendly and helpful staff. Overall was perfect.

Room, bedlinen, pillows and duvet smelt of stale sweat as if they have not been washed or aired. Breakfast was crowded and food was not refilled sufficiently quickly. Paths were not well lit. Signboard at entrance of hotel not well lit - driver almost missed entrance.
