The Lion at West Pennard

I was pleasantly surprised, in a world flooded with mediocrity the Lion was rated (in my opinion) well above the norm! From the greeting to the fantastic food and a gorgeous well thought out room, with crisp clean sheets and a comfy clean bed.. Well done! I would recommend to anybody looking for a friendly experience that will surprise you!

We stayed one night, en route to Cornwall. Excellent stay throughout; with every aspect obviously subjected to the highest standard of attention. Car parking, Welcome, room facilities (Room 8 on the ground floor) inc fridge, cleanliness etc Superb dinner, with the salmon being the highlight. Also special mention for Lily, who helped us through both the Menu and Wine List (!) and was the perfect Host during the evening. In fact, the friendliness and helpfulness of all the Staff, along with the high standards, being the overriding impression taken away from our stay. Breakfast equally superb, with obviously high-quality produce used throughout. Thank you The Lion and we will stay with you again - hopefully longer next time.

Our bed was broken - I did mention this the next morning to the receptionist but just received a ‘oh no’. I did email, unfortunately a little late, for breakfast the next morning but we were told it couldn’t be added and we needed to pay from the menu - it seemed a bit unnecessary and cost more

Location was nice & staff were great. The food was really good.

The general state of the pub looked very tired & worn out. The carpet in the dining room was covered in stains. Outside front area looked very tired with rotten furniture and fencing. The shower in our room was full of limescale so the water was shooting out of the top instead of downwards.

Room was lovely and breakfast too, staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful

No complaints, I enjoyed my stay
