"Historical venue with outstanding hospitality! "

8.0

Lovely authentic 16th century property! Rooms are aged and the facilities within the rooms are the same but adequate for our needs. Not withstanding that the Public House facilities, food, drinks & staff were outstanding! The hospitality was nothing short of exemplary, thank you

"300 years old "

6.0

300 year old hostelry means it will be different,....uneven floors, low beams, etc. And without cavity wall insulation, it can be cold, so ask for a heater in your room. Room 2 is not the best, with a very low door and noisy as its on front.

"Charles Dickens "

6.0

The room was very basic and extremely cold on arrival but they found us extra heaters. The bed was very hard and pillows lumpy. The staff were all very friendly and the evening meal was lovely. The breakfast was very good too. Pretty village and worth walking to the Mausoleum

An historic inn, known for its association with Charles Dickens, who features on almost all walls and available surfaces. An attractive building, without level floors, owing to its age, but kept in good condition by attentive staff. Food and drink of a good standard. Our room, the Mr Winkle Room, had a four-poster bed, and was spacious and comfortable.
