The rooms were truly charming, the bed was supremely comfortable and the room was spotless. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shops.

Small coffee machine in room would have been welcome.

Location was fine. However, the marketing info seems sketchy. The references to "the Constance", "the Whitlock" and "the Dewey" were totally confusing. We weren't sure WHERE we were supposed to be. Turns out it was simply Room 208 at the Hideaway. Searches on phones for The Hideaway Inn consistently took us to varied inns around New England, but failed to find your property. Very confusing to a tourist unfamiliar with the area. Regarding breakfast, we missed it because we didn't know where to find it. The Hideaway Inn was overall a pleasant place to stay, very charming and quaint. Probably better for someone under 65 with better knees than mine.

Our hot water in bathroom sink and shower took a REALLY long time to heat up. Both days.

Facilities and location were really good

Check-in was difficult as there are no humans. Rooms are good but if you are looking for a human touch and local interaction and engagement then this is not for you. Just no heart and soul in the place.

The rooms were stylishly furnished with many fun details. Bed was comfortable. In-room AC unit was good.

Have you ever wanted your hotel stay to feel more like dealing with your cable company? We stayed at this unstaffed property and were greeted by an iPad. When our reservation couldn’t be found, I had to spend 40 mins talking with someone in an offshore call center to get issued the code to be let into my room. This is dystopian anti-hospitality, being casually dehumanized by a faceless system, some private equity guy’s fantasy of cutting every comer while slapping a few twee stickers on the front (in this case a record player and antique phone) to get you to book. Don’t be fooled like I was. To more garden variety complaints: this is an old building and the rooms were loud. Though there weren’t many other guests (the parking lot implied there was only one other room booked during our off-season visit, we heard every footstep they took.

The inn itself is quite pretty. The area appears to be safe--it is right next door to the local police station. The beds were comfortable.

The inn was undergoing extensive remodeling. We were literally the only people there with the exception of a few contractors during the day. I guess they were following an AirB&B model, where you communicate with everybody through text and are basically on your own. The room we were in was so tiny, we had no place to put our suitcases--even the closet was too small to accommodate even one of our suitcases. The coffee maker in the common area was broken--I am sure as soon as they finish everything it will be better but we should have been alerted before we came that the place was in the middle of renovations.
