"What a lovely place to stay. Exceptionally friendly and exceptional food."

We absolutely loved our overnight stay here. We booked a short notice plenty of local places to choose from, but this one stood out and we were not disappointed.

They really charming cozy and friendly place to stay. Lovely room and gorgeous bath. The staff were exceptional from the time we arrived at the time we left. We ate our evening meal in the bar which we had pre-booked. It was busy which is always a good sign we never felt rushed and the food was outstanding. Our evening meal was excellent and the breakfast one of the best we had ever eaten at an Inn. Really first class. Our stay was beyond our expectations. We will definitely stay here again next time we are hiking in the area and look forward to it.

"A night away during the Christmas break"

Our second visit to the Chequers Inn as ideal location for walking. Friendly staff, comfortable room and good food.

Duvet was a little too warm for us even on a cold December night.

"Lots of promise but floored by breakfast"

Good location comfortable room good dinner pleasant staff.

Breakfast The breakfast experience was worse than poor. The coffee and tea were so weak we had to ask for a stronger replacement. The breakfast (Smoked fish and poached egg) was cooked ok but the quantity could only be described as between mean and meagre. It was also very slow. At around £130 per night it has to be much better. Shame really, everything else was fine
