Nice accommodation. Good for an overnight stay. Building has a charming character about it. Very welcoming owner. Food lovely and good choices.

Every time I stay here, it seems to get a little worse. I stayed in room one, the farthest from the pub, on this occasion. On entering the room, I was hit with an overpowering artificial scent. I thought airing the room might help but it didn't, the reason being I believe the room was being 'freshened' with a device on the ceiling. Know the smell of cotton Febreze air freshener? It smelt - and tasted, yes tasted, pervasive as it was - just like that. Now imagine it going all through the night. How could anyone think that's a good idea? The mattress was horribly lumpy, and tall people would have a real issue with the length of the bed since the footboard (not sure of the correct word but opposite to the headboard) will get in the way. They've also changed internet provider. You now have to agree to some seriously invasive conditions to get online where you agree to allow them to inspect whatever you're up to, and to share that with the hotel. That's pretty appalling. Still no coffee in the room but there were teabags, as usual. Why not provide a couple of sachets of coffee? Finally, there were cobwebs around the room, and the decorative throw at the foot of the bed was covered in stains. As to what they were... well, an average CSI would have had quite the field day, I am sure. Avoid. (I'll finally take my own advice and take my custom elsewhere next time I'm in the area.)

all good except the TV didnt work quite as it should but we let them know at the end of the stay - it wasn't a big issue.

Toilets were out of order so had to go to our room to go . This was led outside into the garden via very steep steps and not very good handrails being 72 and very frosty was very slippery and rooms were like chalets and not very well lit outside walking to them . Breakfast was ok but coffee was awful he said it's because of the water? Tasted like salt but no apology! Had to ask for butter for out toast no marmalade or jam ion the table I think expensive for what we had I expected a better service it was my birthday a special treat for me and my friend

I hung around for a while when I arrived before anyone appeared. Apart from that, all was great

Not a bad place to stay. A couple of niggles. TV remote buttons half not working and poor selection of channels. Shower a bit confusing to operate and stiff contols. Overall ok.

We loved our stay here. It wasn't quite what we had imagined from the photos--most of the rooms are in a separate row just up from the main house--but the room itself was adequate and clean. The location is a strong point--we loved walking up to the local church and down to Castle Comb (a little longer hike which requires some good directions from kind locals). The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the service and atmosphere were both warm and welcoming.

We booked this place after seeing 5 star reviews. Our experience wasn’t close to 5 stars at all. The bed in the room was very uncomfortable. The shower is decent! The people not that friendly. The dishes were dirty during our breakfast. Not a good experience at all!

Average country pub. Food average, room average but they tried hard
