The Old House At Home

The staff are very friendly and the pub has a great atmosphere. Nice mix of locals and travelers. the room was lovely, completely as advertised so no "bad" surprises here. Comfy bed and VERY quiet. All in all a charming country inn.

Despite being horrendously delayed and arriving at 23.45 Instead of 1900 as notified, we were relieved to receive be a warm welcome and our rooms were waiting. After a great nights sleep, we tucked into a delicious veggi breakfast. helpful.

The friendliness of the staff. The well appointed rooms. Good food, great breakfast. Doesn't really cater for those who prefer 'continental' breakfast. Not clear from the website that the rooms are separate from the main building, up a flight of outdoor steps. Rear car park limited room - front car park narrow spaces.

We were attending our son’s best friend’s wedding at the Manor House Hotel down the road in Castle Comb, about 3 miles away, so The Old House Hotel was ideally placed for us getting there quite easily by cab (or so we thought). However, as there is no local cab firm we were being quoted silly money (£50) for a 10 minute ride. The bar staff at The Old House said that was ridiculous and they very kindly offered to run us to and from the wedding reception the following day. We couldn’t be more grateful for such a kindly act. The hotel is truly blessed to have such lovely, accommodating staff. We dined there the first night and had a delightful meal, and breakfast both days was cooked to perfection. The rooms look newly built in a new block adjacent to the pub and beer garden, and had a walk-in shower, tv, iron, ironing board and tea and coffee making facilities. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel and fabulous staff. Thank you one and all.

This place was great from the moment I booked in, until I left. I stop in this area quite often, and this will now be my first choice. Booking in was easy, the pub was exactly what you would want from a country inn. Good beer, a good selection of wines, and the staff were very friendly. Food was not expensive, but clearly freshly produced. The room was in an outside block, new, clean and had everything you could want. I'll be back!

Challets need aircon or at least a good fan in the room. I had a bad night due to there being no ventilation. Right on a main road so traffic, however light, was another cause of broken sleep. Breakfast does not start until 0800. bit late for business customers in my opinion.

Delicious dinner . Superb quality and well prepared. Breakfast was made to order too.

Lovely location. Very friendly, helpful staff. Room always cleaned properly. Very peaceful. Fair choice for evening meals. Only downfall is there are a few outside steps you have to do to get to rooms. Can be slippery in wet, but ok.

Well appointed, clean and comfortable property. Part of a lovely old pub serving very good food.

The staff were very nice and helpful ,But the whole place needs decorating and a good deep clean .first impressions are the most important to me and the room had a very musty smell on entering that was there the whole time . The shower head needs descaling the water was luke warm on both mornings so not a good experience..The food was not good . Overall was very disappointed how it has a 5 star rating I really don’t know !!
