Marriott's Kauai Lagoons

Very quiet and relaxing ! perfect place to have real down time away from hectic crowds. The pool is lovely and the staff most helpful. While there is no restaurant there are plenty of grills, and the kitchen was supplied well- if you are missing something from the store they have the basics for purchase. My husband walks with a cane - so navigating the resort was a bit tricky, particularly because he wanted to go to the gym, which was pretty far away from the room .Other than that - I would stay there again. Some mentioned the airplane noise since it’s close to the airport -but we did not notice that it had a negative impact on the peacefulness of the area.

Unbelievably friendly staff. Wonderful place to spend time.

5/5 Our stay here was amazing from start to finish! From our check in with Mindi and the amazing recommendations from Elsa at concierge. Also there was a gentleman on evening shift that was so polite and helpful. 20/10 for Melanie on crafts and activities. The activities were so cool and stuff you would actually use like a bookmark and ornaments. Melanie was so patient with my children for the crafts. The room was wonderful with all the amenities and views. Would definitely stay there again with my husband and kids. Very family friendly.

Probably not the best place for only a one night stay, due to no restaurants or real food options on site, but! The staff were great, the villa was amazing, we got frozen pizza from the reception market, and had a great time

We had a very relaxed visit that we were looking for!

Awesome views, the landscaping is spectacular, the rooms (we had a 2 BR) are big and clean. We had a view of the pool and the bay which was stunning. This is a calm and relaxing resort in a secluded area of the Island surrounded by a golf course, the bay, lagoons another Marriott resort and, oh yeah the Airport. Even though the place is near the airport, it is not a very active airport so it really isn't an issue. The staff is great as well. The one thing this is NOT is a beach resort. They do have beach chairs available to take to other beaches but there is no beach here. Since it is a Hawaiian resort you might assume there is a beach. There is no beach. However, knowing that going in you can find other beautiful beaches on the island. You are allowed to use the beach at the other Marriott resort down the street, but since this fair skinned Irish lad needs shade, without an umbrella, this was not an option for us. Also, there is no restaurant or bar on premises. This is not that uncommon for Marriott Vacation locations. We have stayed in two other locations that were also sans bar and restaurant, Tucson Arizona and Absecon NJ, but still it would be nice to have a pool bar. Not sure why they don't, as there is plenty of room for one. All-in-all, if you set your expectations based on what this place does NOT have, it really is a lovely place. Very lovely, in fact.

Stayed with kids (7 and 4) for five nights. We loved the property. We had a 3 bedroom villa and it was so spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful kitchen, dining room, living room and laundry. The pool area is very nice and was never crowded. The staff do arts and crafts and root beer floats by the pool a few times a day, which my 4yo loved. There's a small water slide and plenty of areas for kids to splash around. The only downside is the construction visible from many of the rooms but it wasn't disruptive. It would also be nice for the resort to have a bar or restaurant onsite. It's close to the airport too. We would definitely stay here again.

Many of my faithful readers will know I've stayed a lot at different Marriotts both in Europe and rhe US. And they may seem similar in many ways. Good and friendly service. Apart from most of their hotels, situated a few miles from the city centre. Good and spacious flats often called villas for some reason I don't fathom. Nice pools, this one here not very big , and superb cleanliness. Well kept parkareas and quiet surroundings. Most customers are either families or OAPs, like me. So why only 4 stars? Well you must have a car , there's no shuttleservice at all. Which is a bit strange since just 10 minutes away The Marriott Sonesta is and they have shuttles. Why not let those also include M Lagoons? Marriotts to me are largely inclusive places, But at this one there is no restaurant and not even a bar. I mean, a bar is not only about food and drink, it's a social thing where you get to meet new faces and learn more about them, and yourself. (And mentioning bars you"ll find 10 to 20 minutes walk away, they close at 10 pm!) So what do you do to eat? Don't bank on the shop usually at Marriotts called markets. The one here isn't a minimarket, it's a nano market. About 30 sq feet and self service with very little to choose from. They didn't even have Coca-Cola! So car is a must and driving to a really great Safeway solves most needs. I mentioned the pool area, there's also a good fitness centre. But there's not much else in terms if activities. Yes, they let you have bikes for 2 hrs, but only to be used on paths around the big golf course close by. The flat had TVs in living- and bedrooms and en suite bathrooms. But I do not understand why there's no way to regulate the showerhead. The balcony is really big and the folding doors from the livingroom opens up a huge place. You can't go down to swim in the sea even though it's only a crafty stone's throw away. You'll need to walk about 15 minutes down through the Sonesta or further. If you don't want to use the many bbqs and firepits there are several restaurants . I tested a few . The Hualani had great reviews so I went there and tried their moonfish. Definitely good but not cheap. And mentioning prices, Kauai is expensive!! I noticed several reviews about the Marriotts at Doral in Miami complained about the closeness to the airport. The Lagoons is also very close but you don't notice the planes, but the helicopters fly out regularly over you heading for Princeville. And the whole island is like staying in a bird sanctuary which I enjoyed, so many different ones and beautiful. So a 4 is correct I presume.
