Marriott's Kauai Lagoons

Best bang for your buck and great for a family vacation

Lovely hotel with great ocean view. Kids friendly place! There is no restaurant at hotel site but close to a few great restaurants.

This resort is extremely BORING. Minimal adult activities. The one and only pool is very small and is loaded with kids playing ball. The resort grounds are very nicely manicured however the lagoons look like a swamp. Dead fish floating on top of the dark algae. The marketplace is very small. Our garden view villa's A/C did not take away the mildew smell and moisture in the room from the island's humidity. The bed sheets were always damp from the humidity. The balconies are very large, however the local birds are a big pest!! They are constantly sitting and pooping on the tabletops and chairs. The sounds from the other villas can be heard from your balcony. Also, no privacy on the balconies due to partial glass walls. Do yourself a favor and stay in Poipu where the other Marriott Vacation club is. ( Marriott Waiohai Beach Club ) Also, the Grand Hyatt Kauai resort. Theses resorts offer many pools, beach, restaurants and daily activities. We rented a car from Alamo and headed over to Poipu almost everyday. It's the sunny side of the island. The Marriott Lagoons has no restaurant. We ate dinner at Duke's Kauai twice and The Italian restaurant next to Duke's once. The food at theses places were average tasting. The Marriott Lagoons offers many BBQ areas if you choose to BBQ. Many families did. Glad to be back home. Will never return to the Marriott Kauai Lagoons.

My wife and I enjoyed a relaxing 10 days at this property this month. We purchased our MVC ownership at Kauai in 2012 and have stayed at this property several times since then. The staff is marvelous! We like a getaway from stress and normal life (my cell phone remains in the safe when we stay at the Lagoons -)) and this resort provides just that. We are noticing the villas are showing wear typical of a 15 year old property, so hope the planned refresh comes thru. We have enjoyed the upgraded appliances and were disappointed to find GE replacements on this trip. Specific complaint is a noisy GE dishwasher in an open area is just that ... unwanted noise. Our water heater burst during our first night in the villa, flooding one bedroom and creating an unwanted disturbance, but again the staff was marvelous and took care of it appropriately. Again, a sign of a 15 year old property. The young man covering security woke us up and cleaned most of the mess up in short order, and we greatly appreciated him! It seems the new neighbor, Timbers, was stopping walkers on the bike path along the ocean below our villa. This was sad to see as it looked as though perhaps a chink appearing in the previously amicable relationship. Life was definitely sweeter when the hotel (now Royal Sonesta), the golf course (now Timbers), the unfinished resort (now Timbers) and the Lagoons were all Marriott properties. Please keep focus on maintaining Aloha amongst friends and neighbors so we owners/guests don't feel a divide.

Great for kids - beautiful poolside/hot tub area. Grills available as well as mini basketball and a very small mini golf area. Close to beach, shopping, and generally a beautiful place. Breakfast buffet was consistent and staff is wonderful. Laundry and gym convenient. A great place to stay with family.

This is a stunning property. Quiet grounds, beautiful rooms, lots of space. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful resort. It is quiet and the gardens are lovely. The beach is a short drive, the pool is not huge but never crowded. The rooms are fabulous, how many resorts have a subzero refrigerator? Large rooms and beautiful views. No restaurant on site but close by there is restaurants and shopping. Thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful environment.

Most excellent and comfortable stay ever

A beautiful, clean, quiet, safe environment, and relaxing time share resort. The 2bdrm deluxe was perfect for a extended stay on the island. All cooking Americans included. No onsite restaurants but off the resort there's plenty nearby within a mile. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort to my family and friends and I look forward to using it again.

Stayed here many times and things are starting to slip. Unit looked worn, horrible pillows and threadbare towels. Staff mentioned that units may be redone soon, but will be taking away high end appliances and replacing with cheap GE models. Sad to hear this as this is one one the nicest units of MVC. Activities offered were mostly crafts, no physical/wellness offerings. The staff are fabulous, friendly and helpful. Location is central for exploring Kauai. Hope the reno and proximity to The Timbers doesn’t spoil this place. More suited for adults than families with children.
