Easy to take tuktuk at the ring road around the old city to go to Tape Gate with many restaurant.

The place is run down and needs renovation. They have an area that looks like it had a restaurant but do not use it. The room is dimly lit and smells of urine. The best thing is there is a lady that you can book trips and scooters with.

Very dated hotel. It was fine for the one night stay we had, but I wouldn’t have wanted to stay any longer than that.

The room we stayed in smelled like pee and the shower was clogged. It was tolerable but we couldn't wait to get out of there!

Satisfactory relative to room rate. Television in room did not work reliably. Water pressure in shower not always sufficiently strong.

This a good hotel located about 5 minutes walk outside the city walls. The hotel is light and airy with 2 lifts to all floors. The rooms were large and clean. Your room was a bit noisy in the morning with the cockerel and dogs barking and then the call to prayer loudspeaker. We didn't eat here as there was plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance.

Good location, walking distance to the Old City. Rooms are getting a litte out dated, Staff are usual very friendly and hotel was very helpful with shuttles to and from airport.

We stayed at the Royal Panerai 3 separate times during our time in northern Thailand, so a 5* review is overdue. Sure, it’s not the newest hotel around, and each room can be kind of up to chance. But it’s the best value you can get for the price. The location is great, the rooms are big, and the staff is helpful. Pros: big rooms, big bathrooms, toilets flush well, water pressure is good enough, price, helpful staff, great location Cons: older, the rooms vary on what might be nicer/less nice (some rooms have nicer bathrooms, som have rougher floors, but nothing you can’t live with), WiFi is slow and requires frequent log in, bottled water may cause diarrhea (they recycle and refill the glass bottles every day - not sure about if they wash bottles or if water is good quality) But I must still give this place 5* because it was like home to us for almost a month.

Not particularly bad or shabby, but not particularly royal - for the low price that we paid it was what we expected and a good value for money. Good location, very friendly and helpful staff and we rented a moped which was easy. No safe in the room and the safes behind reception are very small so wouldn’t have fit our laptop, iPad etc.
