Royal Panerai Hotel

The grounds were a disgrace with cars and vans blocking walkway entrance to the motel. The rooms weren't clean and made up each day. The motel didn't have a restaurant and we were directed to a motel 500metres away for breakfast....The TV"s need upgrading.

It is terrible because: I did not felt safe while i was in the room and even more when I'm out of the room because the door was broken. (Picture mentioned) also no lock safe in room. Lot of Mosquitoes in the room!! We had to put insects repellent while in room... Wifi disaster! 1st day wifi on and off and the 2nd and 3rd day no wifi. Last 2 days we went on 2 whole days tour and after a busy day we wished to contact our family which they are 15hrs away from us and also, we want to confirm other tours and make check-in for our next flight but no wifi in the whole hotel. We had to go out from the hotel and find another place for wifi. Bathroom very old!! On the other hand, room cleaning service were ok.

I had to see a doctor and the staff at Royal Panerai we’re so lovely and super helpful. Two of them went far out of their way to ensure I was looked after. I am very grateful. Hotel is inexpensive and clean and has someone at reception overnight. Very helpful.

I enjoyed my visit - great location and everything was good - did not te breakfast at the sister hotel (Royal Penninsule). I'd stay again - a good value!

The hotel is is conveniently located at the north-eastern corner of the Old City with easy access to red taxis that can transport you to anywhere within the city walls for thirty baht. Alternatively, numerous amenities are available to tourists within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel facilities are adequate for the price.

Just 1km from Tha Phae gate, Royal Panerai is a well managed budget hotel, suitable for groups, family and friends. Reception staffs are English speaking, friendly and always eager to help. I booked through Agoda and paid around 650 baht a night, rooms are very spacious, has mini refrigerator, but room #307 don't have hairdryer. Also wished to have tea/coffee maker in room. Anyways, they have hot water dispenser in dining area beside lobby. Housekeeping did their job very well. I always tip them well. Overall having a pleasant stay here for last 5 days. By the way, one 7 Eleven is just beside the hotel and numerous eating places within 4-5min walking distance. I will highly recommend GORO Japanese restaurant and Aroi Dee Thai food restaurant, very affordable and good quality food. To get around plenty of Red Songtaew, UBER/ GRAB taxis are always around 24hrs.

This place is an old hotel and is nice for a quick stop but anything longer than 2 days is no good. There are lots of tiny ants crawling all over the room (found a couple on my bed) the shower drains are clogged and the walls are thinner than glass. Upon checking in, I noticed the bed have been made but the sheets were someone’s old used sheets with dirt under the blanket. Thank goodness for that moment I had brought my own travel sheets with me for cases like these. The towel they proveided I never used them because they have some fresh yellow and brownish stains on them. Again, thank goodness I brought my own personal towel with me. After my first day here, I tried to cancel the rest of my reservations and find another place but they had a very strict cancelation policy after checking in. So I was stuck there for the next 10 days and in those 10 days, my bed sheets were changed maybe 3 times. The floors were never swept and toilet was rarely cleaned. Overall, my stay here was okay. I wouldn’t want to come back here unless they did a minor repair and renovations. The only good thing about here was the free two glass bottles of water they gave with each house keeping services and the sink outside on the balcony which gave me a chance to do some laundry and air dry some things.

Overall for the price we had a decent stay, the hotel is a bit run down however it was fine for a budget stay. It's a bit of a walk into the old square but easily doable, alternatively there are lots of tuk-tuks around to get you to where you want to be.

This is an old hotel and AC need to be upgraded. I could hardly tell the AC running even it was already on.

Good hotel north of walled city, but still easy walk to popular places: Tapae Gate, night market, wats everywhere, and many live music bars. Best get on a motorbike and explore.
