Palmbeach Resort and Spa Mactan

First, you had to walk through several very smokey areas...many, many Koreans were guests...this resort caters to divers...the food was horrible, in that they seemed to have purchased the cheapest bread from street vendors, with resort prices...none of the food was tasty...my wife and I had two different meals...never to return..however, the wifi was very, very fast in the restaurant...

Check in was quick and attentive. The room was very small and the bathroom was in need or urgent care. The showe rand floor had black mould and not very clean. The pool area was nice and the water seemed well,unkept, the diva Nguyễn center also seemed first class although I didn't dive on this trip. Brwckfast...soso, coffe was good but not too many food choices they make some eggs but way over cooked and juice not natural. It maybe an ok place to stay if you intent to get diving certification. But for holiday stay it seeemed overpriced

Mactan Island does not have access to the waterfront. There are no beaches other than what you have in your resort. We booked into a hotel called Palmbeach Resort. Don't be fooled by the hotel name as there is no beach. We walked for miles and all the waterfront is blocked off by resorts or condominiums and the security guards will not let you pass. Even the spare bits of land are fenced off. Even the locals cannot get to the waterfront. So if you're looking for beach life forget Mactan Island as there is simply none as in no beach. There is no nightlife. If you want to find a restaurant and bar outside your hotel you have to return to the main town on route to Cebu town. Beware the taxis want to charge a high price for transport. The worst part of the trip was the dawn chorus. Cockerels everywhere and lots of them. After 2 nights and being woken up at 4am we checked out!

We had a lovely stay. Very nice reception area. Early and fantastic Christmas decorations, late august. But when in the Philipppines, that’s when it starts. We enjoyed a nice breakfast. The room was nice. I use a wheelchair, and even if not a handicap room, it was Ok for us. We looked at a room in 4th floor with a sea view, and that was a nice room with a kitchen.

I was reading all the reviews before booking this place. Most of the reviews are quite bad however decided to book it anyways as the other places in Mactan were out of our budget. And I'm glad we did! This place is for sure a good value for money. Very quiet, comfortable, clean. We were staying in deluxe room which had balcony, TV, new aircon. The ocean is pretty clean for a city beach! And really no people around, we were staying by the pool on our own. If you are having a layover in Cebu it's definitely better idea than staying in the polluted city centre. They also offer jet ski, scuba diving if you get too bored chilling. The restaurant is a big minus though. Overpriced for no reason and purely filipino dishes. The personnel is nice but the food is nothing tasty and the prices are ridiculous! Especially if you are not used to Filipino food yet (or you're a vegetarian) you'd have hard time eating here. Better you hop on a jeepney or get a taxi and visit one of the local eateries. Also when it comes to their "spa" - there is just couple of beds and they use basic oils, there was not even any music - don't expect any real spa experience. However I must say that the lady I had was awesome!!

Well. All the hotels in Mactan are totally overcharged. Nobody understands what is so fancy about this place. In the Philippines you can find much higher value for money. Anyway. Mostly Korean there. And I guess they love Tobe overcharged. Our breakfast was cold and greasy. That can be improved

I reserved for a suite rm which is quite expensive, so i expected to see a room commensurate to the price. we were given a room for elderly and PWD adjacent to staff quarters and a play area. So it is too noisy. It also smells like hospital. Door lock is also defective. When we asked to be transferred to another room, they said they are fully booked. We ended up transferring to another hotel. Hotel said that refund is not possible.Before leaving they also made us pay for a bottled water which we did not consume.

Couple of minor issues, first the pre arranged and confirmed airport pickup never arrived however ultimately this saved us money as it is about 3 times the price of an airport cab. Although we as 2 couples booked a 2 bedroom suite they were only willing to provide a single set of keys until we got quite insistent at which point a second set appeared. Dive experience was very good and a highlight and the restaurant had several very tasty items on the menu, staff was friendly however the room was somewhat poorly furnished and desperately needs a refresh.

Standards in the U S are so different. There were no top sheets on the bed just a coverlet and fitted sheets. The restaurant was just ok. Nice sized room. We weren't aware that it was connected to dive shop.
