Vander Urbani Resort - a Member of Design Hotels

Breakfast was very good, when the staff managed to bring you the items that you had ordered. The bar manager was attentive and knowledgeable and friendly, in fact most of the staff were very good, let down by the girls serving breakfast who were not. They got orders wrong, at times seemed more interested in their phones and would chat to each other when the restaurant was busy, rather than serving people.

It was 26 degrees the day we arrived. The room was very hot. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was set to heating only, so threw out hot air. It was therefore necessary to have windows open to have air, and to cool the room. Our room was directly above a bar that is open 24 hours a day, and at 0400, people were still drinking, partying, arguing, and indeed fighting, directly under our windows. We raised the issue of the air conditioning with the reception staff, who said they would look into the problem. We had to mention it again on the second morning, after another night of rowdy behaviour from the drinkers in the bar below. At this point the air conditioning continued to blast hot air into an already hot room. We were told that as it was going to turn colder, the air conditioning would be left as it was. We had the impression that other guests had complained about the noise and the air conditioning, as the staff appeared to have a well rehearsed explanation. On our fifth and final night, the air conditioning was functioning (colder air) but it lacked power, and we doubted it would be adequate in the hotter temperatures experienced in Ljubljana’s summer weather. The noise from the alley was consistently a problem throughout our stay. Whilst the location of the hotel in the old town was convenient for the local hospitality, the downside with the Vander Urbani is the noise from outside which, in our room, was inescapable, and especially as the windows had to be opened because the air conditioning didn’t work. On balance, we would advise strongly against staying at this venue, unless you are visiting in the Winter, when it is possible to keep windows closed, and the drinkers are less likely to be in the alley until 04:30 in the morning.

Location was perfect

Location was convenient to many of the top sites. Pretty much on the river. Amenities included all shampoo, conditioner, soaps, etc. Roddy and restaurant felt hip and energized

Beds and pillows were a soft. Took a while to cool off the room. Some street noise. Internet was spotty and had to sign on the wifi every time when returned to the hotel

Wow, what a beautiful find, we were so excited to stay here. The hotel is very modern and comfortable. The location is excellent and the staff were so kind and helpful. They organised a free electric mini-mini bus to the station when we were leaving. Breakfast was also very tasty

We had no negative experience during our stay.

Firstly, I should say that the reception and breakfast staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, we were made to feel very welcome. The check-in process was smooth and our room overlooking the river made a promising first impression. Unfortunately, not everything was as it should be. The air-conditioning did not work at all. We had to claim one of the rather dilapidated fans to help move air around in the room, but this was no substitute for functional air-conditioning. I notice, looking at previous reviews, that there have been complaints about this since at least July of last year. The management / owners really need to address this as a matter of urgency. There were other faults. On one of our three full days the room wasn't cleaned at all - this was very slapdash. On another day the cleaners failed to notice that we were nearly out of toilet tissue. The 'plug' in the bath was inadequate and leaked water throughout the bathing process. This was all something of a disappointment, as we loved Ljubljana and the hotel was in an enviable location. With more attention to detail and a fully-functioning air-conditioning system our experience could have been much better.

location was what we wanted close to the river and bars and resturants. Nice and close to the airport and taxis where cheep and nice and clean.

bathroom could have been bigger with two girls a little more room would be nice

excellent ocation, style of hotel, excellent breakfast, very comfortable bed, spacious rooms

some small things in bathroom were impractical, for example, there was no soap shower gel holder in bath/shower, no soap bowl next to wash basin, and far too few towel holder. All easily fixable.
