"Lovely relaxing break with great food and nice staff."

8.0

Lovely grounds, good spa options, lovely clean and comfortable rooms (but could do with air conditioning). Fantastic food at the restaurant for dinner and great breakfast options.

Spa was looking a little tired in some areas and the rooms don’t have air conditioning but overall they are minor points.

"Great time"

8.0

Facility and the staff were very nice, great place to relax, and the grounds were fantastic to walk around. Room was clean and had everything we needed.

Queue for breakfast was a bit long, I feel like other places I've stayed have this kind of thing organised better than what we experienced. Felt like the selection was lacking a bit as well, all felt very rushed to be in, which was the opposite of how we felt about the experience on the whole.

"It’s lost its mojo as a Spa was once magnificent not so now."

7.0

The grounds are spectacular such amazing. Gardens. But they need to clean the lake as it is being suffocated by algae. Staff super friendly and very helpful.

Spa areas tired, ceiling in salt inhalation room hanging down, felt unsafe and dirty. Pool floor has areas of tiles missing, makes it feel scruffy. Everyone had their phones on the spa, weird for a spa to allow. Annoying when somebody is chatting on their phone while you try to relax Hotel room was like a sauna way too hot. No glasses for water or bottled water in room for that matter so had to drink bathroom tap water from a coffee mug. Not very classy.

"Premium Price, very Mediocre Experience"

4.0

We stayed at Lifehouse Hotel & Spa for two nights to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and the experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. We were first given Room 1, which we walked into to find insects covering the walls and ceiling. Reception were apologetic and moved us to Room 52, but it wasn’t available for hours—while my sister, who also had bugs in her room, was upgraded immediately. We were told this couldn’t be offered to us because we were staying two nights. The prosecco included in our package was warm by the time we finally got into the new room, and when I asked for fresh ice, I was told I’d have to pay extra—or buy another bottle. Only after complaining did someone bring up a small amount of crushed ice. Room 52 had its own problems: a leaking shower hose with poor pressure, stained curtains, a faulty door, and a noticeably smaller bed. Not what you expect from a hotel positioning itself as premium. The next day, the spa experience was disrupted by builders replacing windows right by the pool, completely ruining the atmosphere. Then a 10am evacuation drill shut off all spa equipment. On top of that, the sauna was out of service in the morning and the hot tub was unavailable in the afternoon. What was meant to be a relaxing birthday treat ended up feeling stressful, poor value, and far below the standard we’ve experienced on previous visits. Sadly, we won't be returning.

"Good but should be better"

6.0

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights bed, breakfast and evening meals. The good: Restaurant and bar area is lovely, food very good. It would however be a nice idea to have some more basic dishes on the menu. Jason our waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable. Treatment: We both had treatments that were done well and left us relaxed. Spa facilities: Good choice of sauna, steam and salt rooms plus super cold plunge dip and warm aqua pool. Relaxation room: Super chilled area. Lady Byng gardens: The gardens surrounding the spa are absolutely stunning, you have to see them if you're staying here. We spoke to the gardener who was very knowledgeable and gave us some history of the different aspects including Winston Churchill and Rudyard Kipling summerhouses. Housekeeping: This was excellent and room left spotless. Bar staff: Very good. The not so good: Some of the facilities and areas of the Lifehouse are tired which was disappointing. Room: Our room had veneer missing from dressing table, holes in lining of curtains so sun shone through like stars in a constellation in the morning, tired decor and a bathroom tap that would leak across side unless you had it positioned in a certain position. These, in isolation are minor things but together just left a poor impression. Spa facilities: The area around sauna rooms, especially lower walls looked a tad grubby as if it needed a deeper clean. Maintenance: whilst we were there there were constant workmen about, on the Monday a HUGE window was being replaced in the swimming pool area with 8 workmen on it as people were in the pool plus the entrance to bar was being worked on so you had to step around workmen to get to the restaurant. Courtyard gardens: This is really a let down. With the Lady Byng gardens being so good how on earth the courtyard gardens are in such a state of neglect is puzzling. Its the thing you look out on from your room and looks shabby. Restaurant dress standard: The spa states there is a dress code, which we adhered to but of an evening we saw diners in trainers, shorts, and hoodies; items that were noted as not being permitted. We had a nice time but the Lifehouse could be much better with some TLC on the facilities.
