"The view, the view, the view"

8.0

The view was breath taking. Book this place to get the best view in Vernazza, but be aware that the rooms are small, like just bigger than the bed. If you think of your balcony as part of the room, you will have no trouble enjoying this incredible spot. The man who runs it, Andrea, is very kind and helpful. He also owns an open air bar up the road that is worth a visit or two.

"False advertising. Not a hotel"

2.0

Short story: Room was not as described and was impossible to get ahold of owner when power went out. Long story: We made a reservation at this "hotel" even after reading all of the bad reviews because the one thing that was constant was the fact that it had an amazing view. The description on Expedia also promised a terrace and view. We went in with very low expectations for the room because all we wanted was the view. Being avid travelers, we assumed that no matter how bad the room was, we have probably slept in worse. After placing the reservation, I immediately received an email stating that we did not get the room with a sea-view but that our room had a view of the main street of Vernazza. Upon arrival it turned out that our room did not have a terrace and the view of the main street was through a window. We were also surprised with a cash only demand upon arrival which meant that I had to go find a bank. When we returned from our hike, my girlfriend took a shower and then tried to dry her hair with the provided hairdryer... Which immediately blew a fuse and cut all of the power. We searched for a fuse box to no avail and the phone numbers provided went to an answering machine to which we never received a reply. This is not a hotel, it is a collection of studio apartments that someone rents to tourists. The good part of this is that it gives the renter a small peak at life in Vernazza. However, there is no front desk to talk to in case of problems.

"Convenient location in Vernazza"

8.0

Most accommodations in Vernazza are up multiple flights of stairs. The location here was very convenient to shops, train, swimming area and it was only about four flights up the mountain, so manageable with a couple of carryon sand a backpack. Kids loved the little swimming beach just down the street. Location is quiet. Floor plan is a little choppy with three steps up to restroom and remember to wear socks or bring slippers as marble floors can still be quite cold in March:) refrigerator was a plus, shower was good and stayed warm, bed was very comfortable, and dining table was huge for schoolwork and meals.

"Amazing view!"

8.0

February is probably not the best time to visit Cinque Terre, but the region shines even through torrential downpours. This little room perched on the hills of Vernazza (don't come with large, heavy bags) gives you a perfect panorama over the village and surrounding seas. Our hosts met us as agreed and helped us to get large bags in through the "other entrance". The room is tiny and basic but ideally you'll be here outside of the rainy season. The in-room fridge and tea maker were appreciated: having some complementary tea bags and a microwave would have added even more convenience. The room itself was on the older side, and the double bed was made up of two single beds pushed together, as seems to be common in Italy. The heating radiator worked--but not overwhelmingly so. I would stay here again, in sunnier times and with smaller bags.

"Awesome view"

6.0

The room was approximately 8x8. No dresser or closet. You have to live out of your suitcase! Which makes packing easy. The bathroom door is a plastic accordion door. It does have a mini fridge. There is no room for your suitcases if you brought more than 2 carry-ons. We actually had to use one suitcase as a bed side table. This room was no bigger than our shed at home!!! The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were awful. That being said, the view was amazing!!! The terrace was four times the size of our room!

"Hard to find and access apartment."

4.0

The location of this apartment was very difficult to get to with luggage. 110 stairs up a very narrow route. Once there, the views were outstanding and the patio was the best feature. However, every time you left, you faced the same 110 steps up and down. Also, the bathroom was on the lower level which again required descending and ascending. This location should let prospective renters know these factors before. My greatest reaction is based on the price, this was not a reasonable value for the accommodations provided.

"Not for older people or those with disabilities"

4.0

This hotel is only accessed through very steep, slippery metal spiral staircases. Also, the gate was so rusty that I was locked inside and also locked out at night (it was open, but so rusty it didn't work). I had to climb 6 feet over the gate to get in and out, and no managers were around to help. The room is just big enough for a bed. The patio and view are nice, however. They don't speak much English, so it is unclear whether they lock the gate at a certain time, meaning you could get locked out if you stay out after 9 pm. The staff tries to be helpful and are polite, however. This is a cheap rate for the town so if you want to save money and don't mind dealing with these issues, it is OK. However, there are probably safer hotels for the same price in the town. Enjoy your trip to beautiful Italy!

"Good"

6.0

I wouldn't really call it a hotel, but more of rooms rented out of personal homes/apartments. Overall the stay there was comfortable, but just don't expect much. The most important for us was price and private bathroom. It was clean, but could have been a little bit cleaner and I would recommend this for more of backpacker type of traveler. Bring flashlight when walking at night. IMPORTANT: This location has a lot of steps and bit steep, so if mobility is an issue for you or any of your traveling party I recommend something in "Monterosso al Mare" the next village of Cinque Terre, which I personally think is geared for the less active traveler. Personal Opinion: Cinque Terre is a cool place, but I think the more active traveler, with at least a minimal interest in hiking would appreciate it more than a casual less active traveler.

"Worst place of a three week vacaton"

2.0

We booked the room for the view and that is all it had going for it. The room smelled mouldy when we arrived. You have to walk up an extra hundred steps to the restaurant to find someone to let you in. The bed was a fold out that was worn out. The pillows were too. The bathroom was downstairs in our room. Our last night there, there was a storm that ripped the awning apart. When I went to the bathroom in the morning, I stood in two inches of water when I stepped off of the bottom stair. That would explain the mouldy smell.
