Ambong Rainforest Retreat

We had a lovely stay at Ambong Ambong Resort. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds and the rooms are very well maintained and clean. We can wholeheartedly recommend the resort. Best regards♥️

This is my second visit to the Rainforest Retreat! My first visit was outstanding, with excellent service, friendly, helpful and accommodating. Top quality massage & really delicious food. This visit felt a slight step down. Staff were still super friendly and accommodating. Except there seems to be some newer staff who don’t speak much English, and who took on multiple roles, moving between the kitchen, front desk and massage. I signed up for the the Wellness package which was inclusive of a number of treatments, but were not delivered professionally and definitely were not delivered in a way that would make me want to spend money on that treatment in the future. It was not terrible, but not up to the standard one would expect for the price paid. Some suggested areas of improvement: - the welcome ginger tea (also used at the start of treatments) needs to be drinkable, as it was either extremely sweet or saturated ginger taste (too intense to drink) - Staff need to have some level of English proficiency, especially when it comes to treatments (massage etc), as I needed to communicate areas to avoid and pressure depth, but it was not clear whether she understand me. - Since there is a vegan restaurant, I count on having oat milk as a non-dairy option, which previously was available. This time it seemed they ran out, and were not able to replenish in days I was there…. Which only matters because I love a good cup of coffee with oat milk, and was not available 😆☕️ Otherwise, I’ve still given 4 stars, as I love visiting this spot & hope these improvements can be made to make it amazing again. 🫶🏼

The staff are extremely polite and kind, and no matter what you ask for at any time, they are very helpful and make everything easy for you. The hotel is clean and well-organized, offering a truly special experience. The room was very clean, with no insects at all, and the view was beautiful.

We had a lovely stay here, loved having monkeys surrounding us and waking up to the view down to the beach . The staff are very friendly and helpful. Big shout out to Lee the driver , so kind and nice!

Very individual experience and calm environment and atmosphere. Wildlife a bonus. Excellent vegan food and lovely staff, always helpful and attentive. Easy to get to anywhere on Langakwi. Highly recommend.

From start to finish, this is the BEST experience I have ever enjoyed. The OUTSTANDING team ensured my stay was the best it could be. They tailor made everything to ensure my expectations were met. Nothing was too much trouble. Each team member I met shared the same goal and focus which was for me to have the experience of a life time…and boy did I ever. This was my first experience of finally understanding the definition of “teasing my tastebuds”. The food and beverage I enjoyed was a credit to the expert chefs and serving staff that created such wonderful offerings of local and international cuisine. I have been blessed to be able to have traveled the world and eaten in the best restaurants. Never have I tasted such mouthwatering cuisine. It was truly mind blowing. My villa, Temoyong, was the largest one bedroom villa which boasted a fantastic use of space and spectacular views. It was quiet, private and secure. The only visitors were the splendid crew that serviced the villa and the wonderful monkeys that would pay me a visit from time to time. The affinity pool was amazing and perfect for swimming lengths and added the perfect ambience to the property….and it was ALL MINE. The 226 sqm was most welcomed. The separate kitchen and terrace made everything perfectly accessible when spending the day in the great outdoors and enjoying the excellent scenery and Malaysian hospitality. I could, and did spend time in my lounge, patio doors wide open, sat on the edge with my feet and legs dangling in the pool taking in the afternoon sun and sights of off the mountains and water activities going on in Cenang Bay. Watching the eagles and the wildlife in their natural habitat. Getting lost in my thoughts and enjoying the tranquility. Every morning I would have my breakfast delivered to my villa. A generous choice of offerings from local delights to diet conscious individuals to an international pallet. However, if I wanted something off the menu, I guarantee…they would meet the challenge. Dinner in the restaurant was also a joy. I’m a creature of habit. Every night I would enjoy a serving of the world reknowned Malaysian Satay which is a meal in itself. Of course, one must start off with a beverage on the upper terrace of the Rimba restaurant. Or, you could get the front end staff run you over to the Rainforest side to the Vegan restaurant should that be your pleasure for the evening. Again, NOTHING is too much trouble. Akane, Ummi and Azza are there to make sure your stay is seamless….Prem and his team in the Rimba are there to ensure you are never thirsty or hungry. At the end of my stay I was having issues with getting flights home due to the disruption in the Middle East. Without hesitation, Akane was there to assist me with local airlines and travel professionals. Thanks to her, I managed to get home on schedule. Also, whilst I was there, a tailor made itinerary for an island tour with a private car and driver was created and executed with ease and a typical “NO PROBLEM” approach by this awesome team of customer focused and driven individuals. Ambong Ambong is now my annual pilgrimage to a holiday of utter PERFECTION. Thank you to ALL if you for making my stay the experience of a lifetime.

We loved our stay. The rooms (little houses almost) were spacious and very clean. The staff is friendly and pro-active. Location is beautiful!

If you like peace, quiet and living with nature, this is the place to stay. We were greeted by monkeys, squirrels and birds everyday. The room we stayed in had views of the rainforest and sea (and sunsets) and was very private. The staff at the resort were exemplary; very friendly and obliging. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms are built on a hill, so walking to and from the room may be challenging for the less fit or elderly, however, the staff run a shuttle service and were happy to drive us anytime we rang them. Thank you, staff at Ambong Ambong, for our fabulous stay. We will be back!

Location was awesome, away from the main beach area. Very quiet rooms, and great beds. Shower was hot. I used the fitness centre which has a cross trainer and a running machine. Food was decent, all vegan options. And a Japanese restaurant about 30 seconds walk away
