Ambong Rainforest Retreat

My husband and I spent 4 nights in one canopy sea view room. View and nature surroundings ( nice and shy black monkeys, beautiful birds and squirrels) are amazing and the room was very comfy, with all amenities you need and housekeeping service twice a day. Pool is nice and beaxh is 5 mn walk away. Excellent service also from all the friendly staff, and we could enjoy a free and on demand shuttle service to go down to the lobby and to the main restaurant which is a short drive away. Spécial thanks to the responsive and nice chauffers ( especially Nizal) who were always available to drive us back and forth and shared good advices. Beware with the cheeky ( brown 🐒) monkeys gang, you may want to keep food away from them ! 😉 Thanks to all the team for an unforgettable experience

Location is good, it is 5 minutes walk from seaside and relatively close to Cenang and several sea activities like jet skiing, parasailing and etc. the seaside is cleaner than the one in Cenang. Atmosphere is good for relaxing, slowing down. Rooms are very comfortable, clean, with beautiful views . There is a small kitchen, a balcony where you can enjoy the view, the bed is not too soft, and it was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers. We also had beverages (cola, sprite, Schweppes,) for free and a piece of cake as a welcome. I want to mention the personnel. They were very attentive, so thoughtful and accommodating. For example: we wanted laundry, but needed an express now, because we were leaving the next day. The personnel made everything in their power to make it possible and done in the nearest hours. The food: there are 2 options for vegans and regular eaters (2 separate restaurant s) . We are not vegan but tried vegan restaurant and were pleasantly surprised: the food was very tasty and they had huge portions. The regular restaurant is also good, they have a variety of sets for breakfast (western, local). Yes, there are animals around as other guests mentioned, but it was alright, even atmospheric. We had no negative reviews for this hotel and sincerely advise it for all travellers. Spa was so relaxing that I almost fell asleep and was feeling reborn after it. Can’t omit the yoga practice. I so much liked it, the practice was not too challenging but it set the mood for the whole day.

First of all,Ummi and his team are absolutely amazing and made me feel like a real VIP! You can communicate via WhatsApp and the response is always immediate. Nothing is too much trouble. They always remember my name and recommend things to do and how to get the most out of your holiday. Secondly,the Canopy Suite is unbelievable. Fantastic view, bath on the massive patio, beautiful bathroom. Thirdly, the wildlife outside your window is so cool! I especially love the black and white Dusky Leaf Monkeys that passed right in front of the patio. Watch out for the grey ones - they will steal anything! There are a million steps and they are very steep so definitely think twice if you have bad knees. However, the car to shuttle you up and down was extremely prompt. I had a great massage at the spa. There’s only a very small pool. I preferred the food at the restaurant at the sister resort across the way as the little vegan restaurant onsite wasn’t really for me. Don’t worry, they will happily give you a lift over and it only takes a few minutes. The oceanview from there is really lovely. Overall, I really enjoyed staying here for a couple of days, highly recommended !

Loved everything about it- the forest, rooms, furry friends and insects, food at both cafes, lovely staff - special thanks to the reservation staff, Lee, Ummi, Nizal, Sya, Hafiz and the spa team (sorry I didn’t get your names!) thank you for making this second stay as memorable and wonderful as the first :)

I came here for a solo trip to explore the island and living in the forest. During my 4-day stay, Langkawi had been raining for the whole time - what’s a better place to stay in a rainy day than a rainforest?? It’s such a beautiful peaceful and comfortable spot for you to clear your mind, get close to the nature, and not to mention the great restaurants and spa services they have! The room is spacious with great view to the ocean. Staffs here are beyond amazing. I enjoyed every minute here.

We spent five days at Ambong Ambong Retreat and had a very relaxing time. The resort is beautifully located in the jungle itself, and we were able to observe wildlife such as monkeys, birds, and squirrels on a regular basis. The staff and service were outstanding: we particularly appreciated the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, as well as the breakfast with vegan options. The shuttle service was also great. We highly recommend this retreat, especially if you are seeking some peace and quiet but still want to be close to the many restaurants, spas, and beaches of Langkawi.

We stayed in the three storey villa for three nights and it was absolutely an amazing experience. The villa itself is perched on a slope but they provide buggy service which is very thoughtful. The staff are very attentive and a joy to chat with. Definitely recommend for anyone looking to get away from the city hustle.

Beautiful space thats super close to nature, rustic with a clean modern touch. Their vegan and vegetarian options are honestly amazing. And the staff? Every single one of them is so kind, so aligned, and so genuinely present. The therapy, the atmosphere, the activities… everything feels zen and thoughtfully conceptualised. Special shout-outs to the lovely souls I crossed paths with: Nizal, I Am Lee, Azzah, Azia, Ida, Umi, Akane and Sha. Everything was well-coordinated, harmonious, and delivered with such sincerity. Truly a team that shows up with heart and serves at their best.

A tranquil resort with excellent spa and restaurants, abundant wildlife, staff are very friendly and attentive , efficient communication using WhatsApps for any queries and requests with fast response. Good WiFi. Great location for exploring Langkawi, booking services for activities like mangrove cruise. Rooms are large, comfortable and cool with good Aircon and overhead fans on the balcony. Kitchen stocked every day with drinks. Definitely recommend and plan to stay again!
