Ambong Rainforest Retreat

So as our first destination to the island of Langkawi, Ambong Ambong Rainforest Retreat offered exactly what we needed to begin to unwind after our long journey. Set within the lush green interior of the hills overlooking the island of Pula Tepur and beyond you are indeed surrounded by nature. The ambience of wildlife and nature offers a very different feeling to the slightly more commercial areas easily within walking distance from Ambong Ambong for great food and the beach. You are never far away within the retreat from a friendly welcome from the staff who are so helpful with anything you may require from simple lifts up and down the retreat to local eateries or to ever day small needs. Ismail, Ida, Ummi, Prem, Hafiz, Nizal …. Mr Lee your warmth is an asset to the retreat. A choice of x2 breakfast locations offered either vegetarian options or more continental style choices also with contrasting views of the location of the retreat. A gym with all the basics you need to burn off the calories of the great food in and out of the retreat. We would have no hesitation of returning to Ambong Ambong to reacquaint ourselves with the monkeys and a great choice of accommodations to suit varied needs. Thank you…… see you all soon

I stayed here for one week and that was definitely a great choice, from waking up in the jungle, living close to wild animals to delicious breakfasts and dinners at both restaurants. I big thank you to all the staff who made the stay even more memorable, their hospitality and professionalism was at the best, they made me feel as a special guest every single day.

I had a wonderful experience at the Ambong Rainforest Retreat during a 4 night stay end of October. The resort is located within a rainforest (as the name suggests) on a hill overlooking the sea. I couldn't have asked for a better ambience considering I live in the desert. I spent most of my time in the resort save for a 1/2 day boat trip I took to explore Kilim and the evenings when I would venture out for a drink at Pantai Cenang. I could go on about the serenity and calmness of the location and the healing effect it has on one's mind but I need to get to the exceptional service rendered by the staff at Ambong. They were simply superb in ensuring you were taken care of, be it the two restaurants, spa, front office and the shuttle transfers. I feel sorry about not getting everyone's names but thank you Ms. Azzah and Mr. Prem for everything. The last two years have been particularly difficult for me and this break helped a great deal in healing.

We stayed four nights and it was pure luxury. We were very well looked after by the staff. We loved the morning yoga sessions with Sugu, it was the perfect way to start the day. The suite was very well appointed and spacious and the view was amazing. We also loved the restaurants and being surrounded by wildlife. A beautiful, peaceful place to relax.

Fantastic place to spend a relaxing few days. This hotel is a bit different, on a hillside surrounded by nature. Stayed in rainforest suite which was large with amazing semi open terrace with loungers, kitchen and wooden bath. Enjoyed the morning yoga. Booked this specifically since restaurant in this hotel is vegan (not in the sister hotel across the road). Very good breakfast - try the local spicy nasi lamk. Had the taster dinner menu which was excellent with a lot of food but ask for the menu to know what getting and pace yourself. Did find it a bit odd that despite being a vegan hotel, the welcome cake wasnt vegan and they left dairy milk in the kitchen fridge. Does serve alcohol (despite some reviews) but staff didnt know how to use a wine bottle opener so we had to ourself - which gave us a laugh. Being on the outskirts of town meant peaceful and quiet but plenty of other restaurants to walk to and can use grab or bolt to get around very cheapy.

We thoroughly recommend this wonderful nature stay. The tranquility of the surrounding trees slowed us down. Rest was forced upon us in the jungle, safe from the bustling crowds of the beaches. The service was excellent with friendly people who went above and beyond to help us. We thoroughly enjoyed both restaurants (Ambong Vegan and Rimba) and enjoyed local food and the views from both! We enjoyed the cheeky monkeys who left us alone for the most part. With Grab, we could travel to outside areas with ease.

It was a wonderful stay, lovely and friendly staff, all smiling and welcoming us. Breakfast was delicious. Overall, it was above my expectations. I highly recommend it for couples to live unforgettable moments.

This has been the most amazing place we stayed in. The resort is surrounded by the rainforest giving an incredibly relaxing and refreshing atmosphere. The staff is very welcoming and helpful throughout the stay. There is a shuttle car to get you from your room to any part of the resort. The way the resort is planned give you a feeling if walking through the rainforest. Rooms are specious and peaceful, the only sounds you can hear comes from nature and you can barely see or hear other guests around the retreat. The comfort of the beds is exceptional.

Spacious comfortable room, with a nice balcony with a view. A nice refuge as it rained heavily when we visited. The fridge is cold and stocked with complimentary soda and tonic water. The pool is small but nicely maintained. The restaurant has a lovely view but a monkey snatched our breakfast on day 1. So we subsequently ate at Rimba which has an even better view and a better breakfast selection for non vegans. Car transfer was prompt and friendly, and even stretched to the cafe and convenience store nearby. Great hospitality. And the Japanese restaurant at the foot of the hill is good. The birthday welcome was one of the best

Absolutely wonderful stay at Ambong Ambong Rainforest Retreat! The hospitality and care from all the staff were incredible—special shout out to Azza, Ummi, and the entire team for making our visit truly memorable. The serene environment combined with their warm service made it an unforgettable experience. Can’t wait to come back with the whole family! Highly recommend!
