Buckingham Place

Only had the pleasure of spending one night here but it was a very enjoyable one. Property grounds are beautiful and the beach area is the wow factor. Stunning ! Very tranquil environment and the food and drink selection was superb. The owner of the property (A fellow British gentleman called Nick) came over and introduced himself at dinner which was a nice touch and very personable. Wish we had done a few more nights here as it’s a delightful, secluded and tranquil property located in a stunning setting.

This was really amazing. So much a 10 star hotel and so relaxing and ‘like Home’ at the same time. The F&B-prices was very reasonable, the pool amazing, the views so beautiful. The service over all expectations. And the food… SO SO lovely. And so many choices. Every day a new menu. Our stay was so relaxing, and the atmosphere really invited to socialize in the bar in the evenings. The very big room and the comfy bed, my two massages. EVERYTHING was 10 STAR ❤️

Super cool hotel with an amazing pool!

- Food was amazing, best we had in Sri Lanka - Nice pool area and quite location - Nice massage - Very attentive staff, free water during the whole stay, also during dinner

- Rooms are old and not very stylish, but in good condition and well maintained - Not possible to swimm in the sea and no hotel facilities at the beach - Too much staff in the restaurant - Acitivies like free bike rental should be mentioned to all the guests

What really made this an exceptional experience were the staff - we can’t fault anything about this location, the property was beautiful, the pool was wonderful, the food was good, the spa was relaxing. But the staff - they were beyond exceeding expectations. Hats off to Nick (the owner, who has such an interesting background himself) who had founded this place and built such an amazing team around him… thank you to Kalpa, Madhu, and the dining staff (I’m so sorry I didn’t get your names but hopefully you will know who you are - you always had a wonderful smile for us and met our every need, you set the benchmark of hospitality in Sri Lanka).

Buckingham Place is a little piece of paradise. It's such a peaceful place with amazing staff and an extraordinary owner who really looks after his guests and ensures the best quality in all areas: Our room, the tree house (honeymoon suite), was very spacious, super clean, with a good bed, a comfortable sofa and views of the lagoon. The open-plan bathroom is wonderful, with a palm tree towering into the sky in the centre. Bathroom amenities smell so good and are provided in ceramic bottles. No plastic in the whole hotel! This is how it should be 👍🏼 From the balcony, you can watch the peacock dance and countless birds. The birdsong is the only thing you can hear here. If you are looking for absolute peace and relaxation in a perfectly manicured tropical garden, this is the place for you. There are two pools, we had the smaller garden pool all to ourselves - only an iguana kept us company. An attentive member of staff even brought us a delicious fruit juice. In general, the hotel offers a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️star service. The guest is really looked after here, always with the utmost discretion. Many thanks to the whole team! The food in the Oceanfront Restaurant is excellent, you eat in stylish & colourful surroundings, quiet and private. Room service and fresh coffee in the early morning are free of charge. Everything is just right here, the attention to detail makes all the difference. Nick, the owner, runs the hotel with passion and skill. Never before have we experienced such a committed hotelier - and we travel very often. He has an exceptional personality and is a pleasure to talk to. The whole team is top professional and always with a warm smile. Special thanks also to Kalpa for being such a friendly, reachable and reliable manager! We also immediately took Bella the dog to our hearts, she accompanied us on the wonderfully wild and deserted beach. Thanks to Nick and his team for two unforgettable days. We'll be back - but for longer! 💖

This may be the best hotel we have ever stayed in. Beautiful grounds, stylish and comfortable spaces, it can’t possibly ever feel crowded even when every room is full, stunning pool, delicious and innovative food, and quite simply the finest hospitality anywhere. They make you feel immediately relaxed and at home, it is your vacation your way and 5 plus stars without the pretence. Quiet and secluded, it is the perfect romantic getaway. If I could rate it a 12 I would.

From the moment we were greeted by Madu we knew we were going to love Buckingham place. We had booked the honeymoon suite (room 107) and we were blown away by the spacious living and sleeping space, and bathroom. It was magical to wake up overlooking the lagoon and shower under the stars thanks to our open roofed bathroom. The rooms were kept immaturely clean by the fantastic cleaning crew (Sanjuka, Dumindu, Devindu, Daham, Nadeeka and Disna) and our welcome of beautiful flowers adorning every surface was amazing. Nick the owner has a love of Sri Lanka that is infectious and excellently supported by his team Kalpa, Chamindu and Madu. It’s not the beautiful views, exceptional service or high quality food but the staff who are the stars of this luxury boutique hotel but the staff. Every meal time was a joy to be met by Deepal, Ashan, Ruwan, Aruna, Nilanka, Harshana, Madhushanka, Rohan and Vasula. Their ability to tend to your every need without feeling fussed is a skilful art they all execute effortlessly. So I suppose to say if you’re reading this you’re considering staying at Buckingham place and all I can say is. Book now. Book for longer. Book for sooner and bring the people you love most.
