Absolutely exceptional in every sense of the word. From the moment you arrive, you're enveloped in an atmosphere of unparalleled excellence and genuine hospitality. Every aspect of this boutique gem, from its lush gardens to its inviting poolside with sun deck and swim up bar, exudes a sense of tranquility and sophistication. What truly sets this boutique apart is its exceptional team of dedicated staff. From the smiling gardeners, the patient tuk tuk drivers and the meticulous housekeepers to the front of house team every member of the Sri Lankan team are united in the spirit of personalised service.

Nothing it was perfect.

The Buckingham is an exceptional Hotel located on Rekwa Beach near to Tangalle. The service and quality of the Hotel is top notch. Amazing food and breakfasts and beautiful infinity pool overlooking the sea. The rooms are well appointed and the service is outstanding from start to finish.

We loved the wildlife, as you can see various Monkeys and more around the Hotel surroundings. The bathroom is open to the elements which means things can come in at night. For example we had frogs entering our bathroom. The staff quickly remove them though so it was not a major issue.

Amazing stay, even extended twice. The service is second to none, everything is no problem. From the amazing view of the sea to all the varied wildlife in the grounds, posse of monkeys visit every day drinking from the pool and generally being monkeys to peacocks, a mongoose, frogs, all the birds. Nick the owner is a friendly chap and clearly set the ethos of this place and is always around to help if needed. Kalpa and Umesh (managers) are great, absolute credit to the place. Can’t say a bad word, if we are back to Sri Lanka then a visit here will be on the cards again. We had 2 rooms, both great, outdoor showers, very clean, air con, amazing views over the lagoon, comfy beds. Best place we stayed in Sri Lanka, only left as we had plans. The beach is 2 min walk away past all the hermit crabs, we saw baby turtles going into the sea one evening just before they close the beach due to conservation. We then went another night with the turtle conservation next door and witnessed a turtle laying eggs. This place has it all.

We loved this place and will definitely be coming back! There are so many small and thoughtful details that the staff uphold that make the place so welcoming and friendly. We had a memorable yet relaxing stay here and the only regret is that we wish we would have booked longer! The food was delicious and they catered to our dietary requirements without any fuss. For us, it ticked every box, Magical place!

Imagine you are staying in the middle of botanical gardens surrounded by birdsong and the sound of waves, beautiful accommodation, the friendliest team of staff, endless infinity pool, delicious food, and the totally relaxing feeling that nothing is too much trouble. The only ‘rule’ here is to drink lots of water…

A sign to mark the secret entrance to the beach would be helpful

An absolute Oasis of calm and tranquility but just a tuk tuk ride from the lively beach bars and restaurants. Immaculately and stylishly presented property serviced by the most attentive staff. The food was exceptional with a fabulous menu changing from day to day and we were made to feel extra special as we on our honeymoon ❤️ The pool was excellent and the largest we swam in whilst in SL. The owner Nick was a fabulous host and hopefully we will return again when in this magical country.
